About this property

Wonderful peace and tranquillity can be found at Glenwharrie Cottage with it’s rural location among the fields leading to the summits on the Kirconnel hills including Kirkland hill and Mount Stuart. The cottage dates fron the 16th Centuary and has been renovated and to provide an excellent standard of family holiday accommodation while retaining the character of the original traditional stone walled cottage.

The kitchen is well laid out, fully equipped including a range cooker and has plenty of space for relaxed family meals, there are patio doors to a decked area for open air dining as well. The two bedrooms are spacious with lots of storage with the double room providing a cast iron bed frame and the family room has a zip & link bed for flexibility which with the bunks makes it perfect for bringing young children.

There are superb views on three sides of the cottage and the decked seating area and rear garden, makes this a fantastic family space. surrounded by gardens and open countryside, this cottage is perfect for families to come and get away from the hustle and bustle. Children will love the gardens that come with this cottage, extensive lawns to the front and back of the property means they can run and play all day, with fencing to protect them from wandering off. The setting is made perfect by a babbling stream just beyond the garden gate and the fabulous wildlife on your doorstep.

Glenwharrie Cottage is located in Jacobite country, which can be explored with an easy stroll across the fields around the cottage bringing you to the ancient St. Conal's Kirk and Covenanter's graveyard. St. Conal's Kirk is one of the oldest church sites in southern Scotland.

Originally situated on a historic droving road, this cottage is immersed in the history of the area. It is on the Dalry to Sanquhar stage of the Southern Upland Way and on the old Roman road to Ayr, making it an ideal base for hikers, bikers and those who enjoy outdoor pursuits.

The property is within walking distance to Kirkconnel village, where you can find local shops, while other local villages including Wanlockhead, Thornhill and Sanquhar are all close by and worth visiting, with the Crawick multiverse, historic lead mine tours and a range of local shops and restaurants.
