The separate Dining room makes a comfortable space for special parties while the spacious layout of the kitchen includes a dining and family seating area for relaxed living. The sitting room’s bay window makes a lovely spot from which to enjoy the view over the sandy cove while the wood burning stove makes it snug and cosy in winter after a day out exploring the local area.
The cottage makes a perfect base for family beach holidays, with walks through the near by wild flower meadows and woodland managed by the National Trust for Scotland. These walks take you over the hill to the “sister” village of Kippford which is a popular and busy sailing and water sports centre with two hotels and a tea room all making excellent stops for refreshments before you return home. Nearby, Colvend has a general store and tea room, more facilities can be found in ‘The Granite Town’ of Dalbeattie, 7 miles away.
The beautiful Solway Coast offers spectacular scenery and wildlife, with a bird sanctuary on Rough Island, accessible at low tide and the rspb Reserve at Mersehead, a short drive away. Local leisure facilities include sailing in the neighbouring village of Kippford and golf courses at Colvend, Southerness, Kippford and Dalbeattie. ‘World-class’ mountain-biking opportunities (7 Stanes) and walks are popular in the nearby Dalbeattie forest.
Munro Cottage is the left side of the pair of semi detached cottages and the adjoining Albany Cottage can be taken so that larger groups may be together in one location.

A very well located seaside holiday cottage a stones throw from the sea in a quiet village at the end of a dead end ! The accommodation is well laid out and has all the equipment to make your stay comfortable. Parking for 2 but a tight entrance. Although shared garden ideal for well behaved dogs. A working pedestrian gate and wider drive gate would be an advantage. Garden large but slightly overgrown and shrubs need cutting on sea shore to maintain fab views. Garden could easily be sub divided. Great walks from doorstep to beach or forest. Only negative is that if next door cottage under same ownership Albany has 2 cars they park in front of Munroe spoiling views. This could be resolved by Albany sorting 2 car spaces in their drive. We’ve booked again so that sums up our review! Thanks.

Terrific position , especially as we had children in group. Comfortable and welcoming house , well equipped . Beds are to die for , we all slept like logs . Ample room for cars , motorbike . Loved the garden furniture . Booked for next summer already . Thanks to family owners for their welcoming texts and the immediacy with which they arranged for a gas engineer when boiler was problematic.

Our third visit to Munro Cottage with family and 2 dogs. It’s just right for us, plenty of room, well equipped, and very comfortable. We love our holidays there. We have visited Rockcliffe over many years and it never disappoints.
