About this property

NEW TO OUR PORTFOLIO FOR SUMMER 2019:

A lovely traditional cottage carefully renovated to provide spacious and relaxed living with a feature wood burner in the family room plus a second stove in the sitting room - plenty of space for all. The refurbishment ensures that you will enjoy a luxury home from home in the fabulous South West Scotland with it's stunning scenery and surroundings. The cottage has a peaceful location in the quiet hamlet of Bladnoch with views at the front over fields to the River Bladnoch.

Wigtown is a short stroll up the hill and is a lovely town with attractive public gardens forming a focal point in the centre of historic Wigtown. The character of the town changes from sleepy peacefulness to hustle and bustle during it's famous book fair in September resulting in the town happily carrying the title of "Scotland's National Book Town"

The Town has retained an delightful old-fashioned charm and there are pleasant walks to follow while meandering through the town and enjoying the high quality gift shops, small galleries, numerous book shops and many cafes. The area spoils for choice of things to explore and discover, with breath-taking scenery, nearby areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, wilderness and romantic sites. Inland, there are the Galloway Hills with hidden lochs and dramatic waterfalls, whilst the beautiful Solway coastline with sandy beaches, rocky coves and picturesque villages are also just a short drive away. One such village not to miss is Garlieston village with it's attractive harbour small sandy beach and welcoming Inn from which to watch the busy waterborne activities while enjoying a cold beverage.

Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve is internationally recognised for the large numbers of pink-footed geese, Greylag geese, and many species of duck and wading birds which can be seen in autumn and winter. There are also an exceptional number of other activities to enjoy throughout hte area, including fishing beside one of the area's many excellent rivers, or attempting a challenging 7 Stanes cycle track. Horse riding, golf, sailing, diving and numerous walks are available in the area.

The area's famously mild climate and the balmy influence of the Gulf Stream make Galloway home to many beautiful and exotic gardens, with Logan Botanic Gardens at the south-western tip of Scotland, near Port Logan, being one of the most exotic and not be missed.
