About this property

Providing attractive views of the church and beautiful views of the hills beyond, Church View Cottage is a warm and welcoming holiday retreat. The Cottage is located in one of the oldest parts of the town, yet is just 100m from the centre of Moffat. Whether you're wishing to explore the beautiful Scottish Borders as a couple, or with friends or family, this three-storey cottage promises to be the ultimate sanctuary to return to after your days of rambling and sightseeing. If you just want to relax, what better place than to have an extended lie in and listen to the church clock chiming the hour? Enter into the property and find the open-plan living space to your left, with a wood burning stove taking centre stage - warming the room as you snuggle up on the sofas relaxing or watching the flat panel TV. At the other end of the room you can find the kitchen area, housing all the essential appliances for making everything from a simple picnic to be enjoyed whilst on the go, to a full-blown family meal. There is a dining table to seat four, where you can enjoy mealtimes together or double up this space to play games brought from home, or one of the board games provided in the cottage. Moving onto the first floor you will find the first of the elegant double bedrooms, offering its own en-suite with basin and WC as well as a great view of the church, it makes a lovely spot to rest your head. An attractive fireplace, with large mirror above, completes the picture and makes this room an ideal place to relax in; you can enhance the mood further by lowering the lights and enjoying the flicker of the LED candles provided. Follow the rope handrail up to the second floor to find the next double bedroom, boasting even more impressive views of the church and with the gleaming shower room adjacent, you could argue it's the cosiest spot in the house. For those who like to stay connected, there is free Wi-Fi in the property, flat screen TVs in all rooms and plug sockets that contain USB chargers at key points, enabling you to charge your devices easily, even if you forget your charger! Alternatively, if your wish is to escape technology altogether, you can lock your phone away in the (just for fun) mobile phone jail – and challenge yourself to keep it there! Moffat makes a wonderful base for a holiday, located just 1.5 miles from the motorway, the bustling High St boasts a good selection of eateries, shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants, alongside the famous Moffat Toffee, Moffat Whisky, a museum and its own Gala in July, there's plenty to explore on your doorstep. The town is busy right through the season with a packed calendar of events and is also a convenient base to visit the other Border towns, such as Peebles, Selkirk and Melrose. You can find out more about events in the town by visiting their events website at visitmoffat.co.uk There is so much to see and do in the area, with stunning scenery surrounding the town, and must - visit locations from the stunning St Mary’s Loch, to the oldest inhabited house in Scotland at Traquair - and for those who like a physical challenge a visit to the Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall is a must. Whether you like walking, mountain biking (a mountain biking mecca is located at Glentress Forest), watching the wildlife or just relaxing in a friendly and welcoming Scottish town, Moffat is the ideal location. The town also boasts a park with boating lake and putting, an 18-hole golf course, fishing, a couple of garden centres, tennis courts, bowling and a cafe with soft play area. Slightly further afield is Dumfries, with even more indulgent eateries to experience, as well as a wide selection of historical landmarks, museums, a theatre, art gallery and more, this vibrant market town offers the ultimate cultural experience. The Solway Coastline also contains some of the best beaches in the Borders. Small and with steep staircases but very convenient for town.

Communication was great with the owner, it was just as described and even had wood ready to light the stove. The location is perfect & ideal for walks along the waterside as well as being in the village centre. Would definitely love to stay again!

The location is perfect for the town and there were many places to eat nearby. The facilities are excellent and we loved the wood-burner. Very cosy and warm - highly recommended. John Sandra and Loz
