Moffat, a small town in the Annandale valley, grew from a village in the 17th century into a spa town due to the belief that the sulphurous waters of Moffat Well had curative powers. The existing Town Hall was initially built as a Bath House, and many other buildings in town also date back to same time period. After walking about 1.5 miles into the countryside from the town, you'll reach the original well.
