About this property

Nestled moments away from the coast in Southerness, Dumfries and Galloway on the popular Parkdean holiday park is Dershel Lodge. This luxurious lodge benefits from off-road parking for two cars, a wrap-around decking with views across the golf course, on-site amenities including an indoor pool, bar, restaurant, adventure playground and wildlife nature trail as well as a spacious open-plan living space welcoming up to six guests. Cross the threshold and settle down on the plush sofa in front of the flickering warmth of the electric flame-effect stove and watch on as the designated chef of the group makes themselves at home in the fully-equipped kitchen. Lay the table ready to sample their culinary creation and tuck in while reminiscing on the memories you have created so far, if the sun is shining why not step outside to savour golden hour with a glass of wine. When the sun disappears behind the horizon, head inside to wash away the day’s adventures in the sleek bathroom before sloping off to sleep in either of the king-size bedrooms; one of which boasts a handy en-suite shower room. If you can tear yourself away from this fantastic site and property, head to Southerness beach where you can amble through its rocky terrain, tour the lighthouse, and admire the breath-taking views across the sea, on clear days you may even be able to spot the Isle of Man. The coast houses other wondrous attractions including the Mares Braids Waterfall hiking route which meanders through whimsical leafy woodland and rewards guests with a beautiful waterfall; there is also the Bainloch Deer Park which runs guided tours and even offers the opportunities to feed the resident deer! Venture inland to explore the John Paul Jones Museum, the impressive medieval Caerlaverock Castle which boasts its own moat, the ruins of Sweetheart Abbey or the former home of the famous poet Robert Burns. All of this and more awaits at Dershel Lodge.

Located on the Colvend coast, one of the finest stretches of coastline on the 'Scottish Riviera,' Southerness is a small coastal village that was founded in the late 18th century and overlooks the Solway Firth. It has everything you could want for a restful holiday: three pubs, two village stores, a leisure centre with a pool at Parkdean, and two miles of sandy beaches with sand dunes, rock pools, and Gulf Stream warmed waters, not to mention one of the oldest lighthouses in Scotland, constructed in 1748. Criffel Hill, a nearby hill that rises to 569 metres and provides stunning views of the surrounding farmland and the Nith Estuary below, is a popular hiking destination. Views of the Solway Firth, the Cumbrian Lake District to the south, and the Galloway Hills to the west can be had from the Southerness Championship Golf Course, which is located right next to the village. An ideal spot, with plenty to do for guests of all ages.

The lodge was like a home from home, fully equipped with everything you require to enjoy your stay. We especially enjoyed the large TV with access to Netflix, Prime ect as well as the fact there was a washing machine. The lodge itself is beautifuly decorated down to the finest detail, even the room diffusers smell amazing! There is also lots of storage space and a walk in wardrobe in the master bedroom. The kitchen was great to cook in, very spacious with a big centre island. We have tried a lot of different accommodation on the park and this has by far surpassed them all. Best of all was the price, which is affordable for families on a budget. The process of booking was straightforward and friendly service from start to finish! Thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be back, wouldn't go anywhere else now.

The view out over the golf course and to the sea was beautiful. It is on the Park Dean site and by far the nicest Lodge there. The onsite shop was very useful and the children enjoyed the pool. The village of Southerness is nice and the 2 pubs down there are good for drinks, food and entertainment. A lovely beach too. We would definitely return to Dershal Lodge if we were visiting the area again.

Very spacious and as described. Only comments would be under the settee had not been hoovered and the bed settee had a dirty sheet left under it so we did not use this and had to find an alternative sleeping area. The lodge would benefit from a hoover. Other than that we enjoyed our stay despite the site being a little quiet for us.
