This was our first time staying at The Smithy and definitely want to return The location is absolutely stunning and would be lovely for anyone wanting a getaway location for walking etc The owners are lovely around if you need them but not if you don't but easily contactable There is only a small community shop in the village so we did find ourselves travelling to shop for food or for places to eat and although we had a couple of walks locally we did find ourselves travelling out of the village to do things but equally could quite happily have stayed in The Smithy and not moved as the accommodation had everything could want or need the garden was beautiful as was the sound of going to sleep and waking up to the sound of running water from the stream We could walk outside on an evening and be met with the sight of a million stars which was stunning The people In the village were so warm and welcoming made you feel so at home and our adult son who has complex needs was given such a warm welcome locally and everywhere we visited Would more than highly recommend as a place to stay could quite happily go back tomorrow!;Thank you for a wonderful stay

A very comfortable and spacious house with delightful hosts. The Smithy is warm and well equipped with a gorgeous garden for our use.New Galloway has an excellent community shop just up the road and is an ideal base from which to explore the delights of Dumfries and Galloway.
