This semi-detached, quirky conversion, with the owners living next door, is within a larger complex of cottages situated on a working farm very close to Gatehouse of Fleet. Still a working farm, The Bothy has now been converted into a comfortable holiday cottage nestled in the Girthon Valley and surrounded by some of the best scenery in Galloway, with great walks, both woodland and coastal. Galloway has 200 miles of beautiful coastline, wild mountains and moorland, pretty towns and charming villages. The area also offers a wide range of activities for the whole family to enjoy, be it visiting the local ice cream factory, Cream O’ Galloway at Sandgreen, CocoaBean Chocolate Factory at Twynholm or why not visit Laggan Outdoors, which has one of the longest zip wires in Europe. There are many exciting and beautiful cycle paths straight from your door or try the world famous 7Stanes challenge. There is an abundance of local lochs and rivers if fishing is preferred. There is something for everyone in this beautiful unspoilt corner of Scotland. The cottage is only a few minutes’ drive from the charming town of Gatehouse of Fleet which offers a wide range of places to eat and relax. There are many attractions in and around the town including the Mill on the Fleet Visitor Centre and Cardoness Castle. Beach 1½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

The Bothy is attached to the Main farmhouse. There are other houses on site but are all distinctive with names prominent. It is a working farm.Bed /sitting room is upstairs and toilet/bathroom downstairs. House also had access to a small sheltered seating area outside the back kitchen door. The swallows were prominent around the house...delightful. The owners were friendly and not intrusive at all.A short walk away is an old kirkyard which is worth a look.There are a couple of medium length walks nearby. One leads down to the beach in the direction of a caravan park that is well signposted. We chose to walk that way and when we came to the junction with the caravan park turned left onto a loop that brings you back round on to the road again Approx 6 miles.The other walk we took was a walk that took us along a marked track from the road, along duckboards, into the woods and under the bypass . This took us on a lovely walk into Gatehouse of Fleet. I can recommend the Ship Inn for food if looking for a meal but there are certainly plenty of options for a decent coffee and cake.

We really enjoyed our stay, we were close to places of interest.Would recommend the drive to Mull of Galloway and discovering the near by beaches.Loch Arthur farm shop in Beeswing is well worth a visit.

Fantastic location for exploring the area. Wonderful dark skies. Bothy is cosy and clean, and thoughtfully supplied. Lovely owners living next door, really helpful and friendly but not "in your face". Can definitely recommend. Summerhouse out the back gives that bit of extra space and is very peaceful.
