Guests say

Stonefield Farm Cottage offers a tranquil rural retreat with stunning scenery, ideal for those seeking peace and quiet. The location is appreciated for its natural beauty and proximity to Dunoon. Guests enjoy the wildlife and authentic farm experience, including Highland cattle and lambs. However, the cottage's comfort is compromised by worn and uncomfortable sofas, and maintenance issues have been noted.

Cleanliness is a concern, with reports of dead flies, squashed spiders, and dog excrement inside the property. These issues suggest a need for better upkeep and cleaning.

The location is highly praised for its quietness, natural beauty, and proximity to local amenities in Dunoon. It offers a rural setting with wildlife and scenic walks, making it a highlight for many guests.

Comfort is compromised by the condition of the sofas, which are described as very uncomfortable, dirty, and torn. While the beds are comfortable and the shower is praised, the state of the lounge furniture detracts from the overall comfort.

Facilities are adequate with a well-equipped kitchen and good heating, but maintenance issues like a leaking oil system, broken boiler, and worn furniture are significant drawbacks.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

I’m pretty easy going when it comes to holiday cottages. I’m out most of the day so just need somewhere to sleep. The cottage is ok. Very basic and dated but it was somewhere to sleep. Shower is noisy, could do with an upgrade, oil fired system leaks fumes and is quite a noticeable smell. The one thing I have an issue with is the cottage is listed as pet friendly. It’s pet tolerant at best. Don’t let dogs on furniture, don’t let them upstairs, clean your dog hairs away etc. Too many rules around dogs, just don’t accept them if you don’t want to welcome them and provide a home from home. It’s not a terrible place to stay, below average but not the worst.

Truly the Glen of peace and tranquility. Our host provided a quirky comfortable place for relaxing after our many days out and about. Perfect heating and hot water with kitchen equipment all supplied. Yes the sofa has seen many years of service but adequate after the miles we walked. The location is very rural but only 15 mins away from your beloved cappuccino if needed. Wildlife haven with added Highland cattle for entertainment. We loved staying here and found everything so comfortable we wouldn't hesitate booking again. Thank you kind host for offering somewhere authentic to relax and enjoy the Cowal area.

Travelling for a long time with your 3 dogs to a fantastic place mountains lochs , it was gorgeous. But 12 long hours on the road, tiered , Walked through the door I just wanted to cry . Sofa was taped together very worn hols . Curtains were full of dead flies. Window sills were full of squashed spiders still left there . Dog *** on mats . Kitchen lights were falling out sealing was coming through. So if you had a bath you would fall through. *** on the bath Mat. We decided to go home we could not get hold of owner. As we were walking out there lovely dog pooed right in front of the only door to get out . It was more of a hostel and that is being nice . We went home what was a 8 days a holiday ended being 1 day . Not happy and definitely not a place to holiday at all.
