Beautiful location and the host is welcoming and friendly. The accommodation is basic. Bed linen looking very tired and no facilities to wash clothes other than handwashing. There is a launderette in town though. Be prepared to take your own cleaning products, but towels and tea towels are provided.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the cottage and had to leave after just two days. 1 The two sofas are a great example of something salvaged from a skip, absolutely the worst. Made us laugh there's a sign saying no dogs on furniture. 2 The overwhelming stench of heating oil within the kitchen made us feel physically ill.3 The owners farm dog has free roam of the cottage grounds too and pooped on the doorstep several times, of which we had to clean up. Plus sheep poop around the cars.4 Beds are practically unsleepable in, rock hard. 5 No welcome pack6 The shower looks to be around 50 years old and unsafe. On the plus side the area and peacefulness is fabulous, but a tent would be more comfortable. My poor elderly mum couldn't sit comfortably anywhere in the cottage.

The cotage itself is fabulous. There needs to be a few negative points to put right. The comfort of the lounge furnature needs seriously updating. The curtains were horrendous, both settees were past there sell by date and needed replacing. The odours in the house need addressing. The bedroom we used was nice but needed new bedding and a new mattress, and a good cleaning as it was covered in spiders webs. The oil boiler also needs a service, as it gives of a very strong smell of fumes. On a positive side, It could be a beautiful cottage to holiday in. The scenery and location money couldn't buy. Not asking for a rebuild , just bring it up to date and clean. We would stay again in a heart beat if some improvements were made. Thank you.
