Cleanliness and maintenance have been inconsistent, with a few reports of odours and minor issues. Overall, the cottage provides a cosy base for exploring the Cowal area, especially for nature lovers and dog owners.
Cleanliness feedback is mixed. Several guests found the cottage clean and comfortable, but others reported issues such as dead flies, spider webs, and lingering odours. Some bedding and mats were noted as needing attention. Overall, standards appear variable.
The location is widely praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and proximity to nature, with easy access to Dunoon and local attractions. Guests enjoyed the remote setting, mountain views, and opportunities for walking and wildlife spotting.
Guests found the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, but the lounge sofas were frequently described as uncomfortable, worn, or in need of replacement. Heating issues were occasionally mentioned, but most found the cottage warm and relaxing after days out.
The kitchen is well-equipped and hot water is plentiful, but maintenance issues such as heating, boiler odours, and dated furnishings were noted. Some guests experienced problems with radiators and minor repairs, though most essentials were provided.
The host is described as welcoming and helpful, especially during emergencies. While no specific gifts were mentioned, guests appreciated the personal touches and support. Please note that such gestures are not guaranteed for every stay.

The cotage itself is fabulous. There needs to be a few negative points to put right. The comfort of the lounge furnature needs seriously updating. The curtains were horrendous, both settees were past there sell by date and needed replacing. The odours in the house need addressing. The bedroom we used was nice but needed new bedding and a new mattress, and a good cleaning as it was covered in spiders webs. The oil boiler also needs a service, as it gives of a very strong smell of fumes. On a positive side, It could be a beautiful cottage to holiday in. The scenery and location money couldn't buy. Not asking for a rebuild , just bring it up to date and clean. We would stay again in a heart beat if some improvements were made. Thank you.

The cottage is attached to a working farm about a 10 min drive down Glen Masson. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful. The cottage is attached to a working farm with sheep, highland cows and a sheepdog on the property so be mindful of that if you are taking dogs. The main part of the cottage consists of a large well stocked kitchen and dining area and a single bedroom and toilet . Upstairs are two bedrooms and a toilet /bathroom.The lounge area is an attached extension to the original cottage . There is a TV and two small sofas in this area .The bedrooms and upstairs were lovely and warm but there was a problem with the radiators in the kitchen and lounge area. We had taken our own heater and without this the areas would have been cold . The cost of electric is expensive in the area so the owner was trying to get the radiators working but as it was over Xmas plumbers were not available and it was not resolved .The best review we read before we arrived was the one that’s described the cottage as having a youth hostel feel. We always take our own throws and table cloths and we made it homely . The boiler does have a bit of smell of diesel from it as mentioned in other reviews but wasn’t overpowering . The decor isn’t perfect but we were happy there and the location is amazing. Dogs are not permitted upstairs . They were ok on the sofas as we brought our own throws.

I’m pretty easy going when it comes to holiday cottages. I’m out most of the day so just need somewhere to sleep. The cottage is ok. Very basic and dated but it was somewhere to sleep. Shower is noisy, could do with an upgrade, oil fired system leaks fumes and is quite a noticeable smell. The one thing I have an issue with is the cottage is listed as pet friendly. It’s pet tolerant at best. Don’t let dogs on furniture, don’t let them upstairs, clean your dog hairs away etc. Too many rules around dogs, just don’t accept them if you don’t want to welcome them and provide a home from home. It’s not a terrible place to stay, below average but not the worst.
