Explore the treasures of West Scotland with a holiday at Secret Nest. EPC Rating: Band C

The traditional resort town of Dunoon sits on the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll on the west coast of Scotland. The journey to Dunoon can be made by ferry across the Firth of Clyde, which is one of the top sailing regions in the world, or by driving through amazing scenery of towering mountains and lochs, each more beautiful than the last. Dunoon is reachable by both land and sea. The region hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including sailing competitions, cuisine and music festivals, and the Highland Gathering, which is said to be the biggest and most spectacular in the entire globe. In addition to a high street filled with mostly independent stores that offers a delightfully unusual shopping experience, Dunoon itself has a large number of taverns, coffee shops, and restaurants serving local seafood. With its walled garden, towering Giant Sequoia trees, and hillside walkways offering views over Holy Loch, known for its shipbuilding heritage and which, for a long time, served as a US Navy submarine facility, Benmore Botanic Garden is well worth a visit. In this incredibly lovely region of Scotland, there is something to please everyone. Glasgow is only an hour and a half away and offers fantastic walking, sailing, and landscapes.

For years we have tried to find a self-catering establishment on the Argyll/Clyde coast that would fit our criteria of being 4+ stars, had 2 bathrooms, had at least 2 bedrooms, was within very easy walking distance of a choice of pubs/restaurants and wasn’t at the top of a hill. Secret Nest ticked all those boxes, was very clean and comfortable and the owner was extremely helpful.

The house was spotlessly clean, comfortable and spacious. Very well equipped and full of thoughtful homely touches.

The accommodation is the best holiday let, we have stayed in. The facilities, furnishings and bedding etc are top quality and we all slept like logs! Frances is the perfect host and on hand if we needed her but of course we didn’t. She offers a truly fantastic holiday let which is immaculately clean and super comfortable. We would rate this 6 stars if possible!
