Tower Lodge is a superb detached cottage, located in the pretty village of Lochawe, situated just above the loch of the same name. Kick off your boots and coats, leave them in the porch area by the front door and walk through to the open-plan living space. The cosy lounge has comfortable seating for four adults to curl up of an evening while watching your favourite shows, with the delightful woodburning stove to keep you warm during those chilly winter months. For the children, there is room to join the adults in the living room but the large downstairs bunk bedroom has a couch, TV, and DVD player to keep them entertained in their own space. The dining area comfortably seats four adults and makes for a wonderful social space to enjoy your delicious home-cooked meals, prepared in the well-equipped kitchen, with all modern appliances on-hand. The dining table can be folded out for up to six (there are two other chairs in other rooms; plus two fold out chairs in the cupboard). Follow the stairs up to the first floor, where the remaining two bedrooms are located, consisting of a spacious twin room and a double bedroom which opens directly onto the balcony overlooking the Loch through the woodland. The family bathroom offers a bath and electric shower, so you can decide how best to prepare for your day or freshen up after a day in the Scottish hills. Outside has a well-kept garden with a sheltered west-facing stone area with a bench and chiminea, so you can sit out by the fire enjoying the country views through the woodland across to St Conan’s tower. While you're in the area, take the time to visit the wonderful ruined structure of Kilchurn Castle, which dates back to the mid-15th century and offers stunning views across the loch, or the quirky St Conan’s Kirk built in medieval style in the late 1800s. For those sporty types, visit the mountain of Ben Cruachan, which has opportunities for climbing and hiking. Due to its rural location, you are ideally placed for walking and cycling opportunities, with scenic views all round. Take advantage of Loch Awe, the third largest freshwater lake in Scotland, which is on your doorstep and enjoy some fishing or hire a boat. The welcoming Cruachan Inn is a convenient 10 minutes’ walk away offering excellent food. Travel a few miles to Dalmally Golf Club, which has a 9-hole course, suitable for amateurs and professionals alike. Visit the towns of Oban and Inverary, which are both only 45 minutes away, or drive less than an hour to beautiful Glen Orchy or dramatic Glen Coe. So much to do in this remote location, you won't want to miss it! Tower Lodge is the perfect choice for a relaxing break to the countryside. EPC Rating: Band E

The log burner is really good. There was a power cut in the wider area after a storm and for a whole day we only had the log burner and candles but were perfectly warm and able to boil water on the stove. The storage heaters of course stayed warm too. When the electricity came back the electric heater in the twin room upstairs wasnât turning on. We couldnât work this out but the whole house was warm anyway. The people in the local Ben Cruachan hotel and neighbours we met were great very friendly. Many thanks for a lovely cosy stay at Christmas.

It has character and charm and is laid out well for visiting families. Tim, the owner, was very helpful, providing information prior to our stay. There is much to do in the area. For us, the ability to walk from the Lodge up to Ben Cruachan was great, although challenging. There are plenty of scenic places, the Falls at Dalavich are a favourite. Inverary was a good place for groceries and we found the store in Dalmally more useful than the one in Lochawe. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tower Lodge. It's a beautiful area which we were happy to revisit.

The owners were very friendly and helpful, the few minor problems that we had were solved immediately. The lodge was very clean and well equipped, the WiFi worked excellently. The place is absolutely quiet, we never heard anything but birds. It is important to note that you have to have a car to reach any trails or sights or supermarkets.
