High Ranachan is praised for its beautiful location, spaciousness, and well-equipped kitchen. Guests enjoy the peaceful setting, games room, and the generous welcome hamper. Some minor issues were noted, but overall, the property is recommended for a rural retreat with lovely views.
The property generally meets cleanliness expectations, but some guests noted it could be improved, particularly in the cupboards. There is no mention of severe cleanliness issues, suggesting an above-average standard.
The location is highly praised for its beautiful views, peacefulness, and proximity to Campbeltown and nature spots. It serves as a great base for exploring the Kintyre Peninsula.
The farmhouse is described as spacious with comfortable beds, although one review mentioned the beds were hard. The presence of a log fire and games room adds to the comfort level.
Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and a welcome pack. However, some guests suggested additional amenities like mirrors near sockets, sturdier doormats, and extra storage. The absence of a pool table, despite previous advertising, was a disappointment.
The provision of a welcome hamper was appreciated, indicating thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may not be provided with every stay.
This is a superb base for family or friends wishing to discover and explore the Kintyre Peninsula with beaches, castles, historic sites and more..

Stayed June 2025The Kintyre Peninsula is a wonderful destination. High Ranachan offers a great base from which to enjoy it.Access is 2 miles up a country road then a gravel track. It is elevated with wonderful views and about as remote as you could wish for if you want a peaceful and quiet holiday retreat. It is spacious with good facilities and a lovely welcome pack was provided. The owner was available and quickly sorted out an issue we had. The beds were comfortable. A few minor things to mention. There was plenty of firewood though we needed to make use of the axe to cut some for kindling. Only one towel per person was provided, a bath and hand towel would have been welcome. The doormats were soft cotton and some more sturdy mats would be better for damp, muddy days. The bedrooms would benefit from a mirror near to a socket - there were no mirrors in any. The largest bedroom could do with a chest of drawers or a little extra storage. Given it accommodates upto seven people, it would benefit from an additional sofa in the main living room. That may seem a long list but they are minor and should in no way be seen as deal breakers. The cottage provided us with a great holiday home that we happily recommend to others.
