About this property

Set on a hillside in a private road, overlooking Rothesay Harbour, on the beautiful Isle of Bute, is this elevated Victorian house with stunning sea views. Ideal for families and large groups celebrating a special occasion, this wonderful holiday home offers a stunning, stone-built exterior and lots of character features inside. The sitting room boasts wonderful views across the pretty town towards the sea, and is warmed by an open fire set within ornate fireplace. The chandelier shines down on a plush sofa and two armchairs, making you feel like royalty, as you enjoy your afternoon cup of tea. The ground floor also plays host to a grand dining room, a cloakroom and the first double bedroom adjoining its very own en-suite.

The kitchen is wonderfully appointed with a Belfast sink and an AGA range as well as an electric cooker. The Kitchen leads to a spacious sunroom perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or a glass of your favorite tipple as the sun sets. A large staircase leads up over two floors, displaying a beautiful stain glass window, which depicts the seasons each morning and evening. The master bedroom rests on the first level, with a Super king-size bed, fitted wardrobe and en-suite shower room. On this floor there is also a second en-suite double room. The family bathroom occupies a large space, with a roll top bath sitting proudly in the middle, character oozing from the tiled walls and traditional-style fixtures. There is a second sitting room on this floor, so the kids can watch TV, while the adults relax downstairs. In addition there is also a Library which can also be used as a study with another fireplace, perfect for relaxing with the many books available to enjoy. Climb another set of stairs to find two more double bedrooms, along with two single rooms and a bathroom boasting a luxurious Jacuzzi bath, so you can enjoy a nice hot soak after a day exploring the island. Outside is a lovely decking area, sunny gardens and a summer house enjoying its very own electricity supply. This palace is fit for a king or queen. Rothesay is an attractive, seaside town with its own 13th century castle ruins to discover. Browse the shops, stroll the sandy beaches, visit Mount Stuart and choose from plenty of bar and eateries. Even try one of the three golf courses on the island. The mainland is easily accessible for a day trips to Wemyss Bay by ferry or the ferry to Collintrave and access to argyle and the beautiful west coast of Scotland. With views across the colourful harbour from almost every room, and a superb interior, how can you miss an opportunity to stay at Bruan?

The seaside town of Rothesay became very popular as a tourist destination in the Victorian era when many Glaswegians would go ‘doon the watter’ (down the River Clyde) and across on the ferry to Bute. Visit the castle ruins in the centre of town, enjoy the scenery with coastal walks or on one of the cycle routes around the island and visit Mount Stuart House. There are three golf courses on the island, as well as the relaxing Scalpsie Bay with views across to Arran.
