Guests consistently praise the beautiful location, cosy atmosphere, and well-equipped kitchen. While the cottage is clean and comfortable, some mention it could benefit from updates and improved heating. The lack of WiFi is seen as a positive by many, enhancing the sense of escape. Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, with several specifically mentioning its cleanliness and homely feel. Only minor comments about decor being tired were noted, but overall impressions were positive.

The location is highly praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and direct access to scenic walks. Its remoteness is a highlight for most, though the distance to shops and amenities is noted.

The cottage is well-equipped for self-catering, but some guests mention issues such as damp, tired decor, and the need for better insulation or heating. The separate electricity charge and occasional lack of hot water were also noted.

With six other holiday cottages sharing the site, each offer a unique and magical holiday retreat; indeed the creator of Peter Pan himself (Sir James Barrie) was born in nearby Kirriemuir and holidayed here.

These cottages were once occupied by shepherds, gardeners and staff of the Ogilvy family when this was a traditional Victorian sporting estate. Red squirrels play in the trees, otters frequent the burns, and deer graze all around. Because of the varied scenery, from beech woods to forest, pasture to heather moor, mountain streams to river pools, the area enjoys a spectacular range of wildlife, including species largely extinct elsewhere in Britain, such as black game and ptarmigan.

Magnificent walking, bird-watching, mountain biking and, in season, cross-country skiing abound on the estate and, further afield, downhill skiing at Glenshee, 35 miles away. Fishing is available on a 5-mile stretch of the River Prosen, and there are 20 golf courses within an hours’ drive. Enjoy the seclusion of this beautiful glen, peaceful, relaxing, scenic, yet just a few minutes’ drive from bustling market towns and busy fishing harbours which hug the Angus coastline, as well as from the city of Dundee which offers many attractions for all the family. The exciting Dundee Contemporary Arts is a stunningly-designed centre which incorporates galleries, a print studio and two art-cinema screens, while the Mills Observatory is Britain’s only full-time public observatory with a resident astronomer. Good road, rail and air access to Angus provide easy access from all parts of the UK or international destinations. Shop, pub and restaurant 9 miles.

Oh my goodness, what an absolutely stunning location that this cottage is in. With a burn running right beside it and the sounds of the water, the tweeting of the birds, the rabbits hopping all over the place and all the nature surrounding the cottage, it’s absolutely breathtaking. The cottage is dated and it was clean. The bedrooms are spacious and there is both a bath and a separate shower (bathroom ensuite to the twin room and shower room ensuite to the main bedroom). There is a washing machine and tumble dryer (very useful) but no Dishwasher or Wi-Fi. Saying that though Wi-Fi was not an issue as the mobile signal was actually pretty good!I highly recommend this cottage for its location and the beds were very comfortable!Just be prepared the nearest shop is approximately 10 miles away but there is a distillery just 3 miles away… So you may not be able to nip out for a loaf of bread but you can nip out and get a wee dram! When visiting the distillery, I was told by the lovely helpful lady there that Tesco’s do deliver to the local area.I’m so pleased that I stayed at this cottage it was absolutely brilliant getting away and embracing the Scottish countryside with its stunning views.

Very disappointing experience. The address/location was confusing and we wasted almost 2 hours finding the property. No proper WiFi, one bathroom had no hot water, and the place felt very uncomfortable at night. We experienced strange knocking sounds on the door and weird noises from the bathroom, which made the stay very scary and uncomfortable for our group.
