West Cottage in Forfar offers a peaceful, rural retreat with a hot tub and spacious garden, ideal for family gatherings and pet-friendly holidays. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and the welcoming touches. While some noted areas for improvement, the overall experience is one of relaxation and enjoyment in a beautiful countryside setting.

Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviews on cleanliness are mixed, with several guests finding the cottage clean and comfortable, while others noted issues with flies, dust, and leftover food. The presence of rat droppings in one instance suggests room for improvement in this area.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, proximity to nature, and ease of access to nearby towns. The rural setting provides a serene backdrop, though the unenclosed garden was a concern for pet owners.

Most guests found the beds comfortable and the cottage spacious, contributing to a pleasant stay. However, some guests mentioned uncomfortable beds and a lack of warmth in certain areas, slightly detracting from the overall comfort.

Facilities like the hot tub and well-equipped kitchen are appreciated, but guests also reported issues with kitchenware, dining arrangements, and maintenance needs. The lack of a washing machine and some non-functioning appliances indicate a need for upgrades.

Guests were delighted by welcome packs, which added a thoughtful touch to their arrival. However, as these gifts are subject to availability and not guaranteed, future guests should consider them a pleasant bonus rather than an expectation.

Lovely surroundings. Plenty space . Host was helpful. Beds were comfortable. Only negativity was the road down to the cottage. I’d definitely go back if the road gets repaired

Everything that was needed was there, and the heating and hot tub were both excellent. Everyone enjoyed the change.

Just a few things that could be improved: the recent rain has badly damaged the road to the property (washed away in places) and so it was very difficult to manoeuvre cars in and out without scraping them on the brick revealed. The main living spaces and a few bedrooms had thick cobwebs in corners and floors weren’t the cleanest. We also had 11 adults staying and there were not enough bowls or wine glasses to cater to everyone. We would definitely be back, just a couple of things that could be improved to make the experience even better.
