In a peaceful location just a mile from the delightful village of Edzell, this cosy, Grade C listed, detached gate lodge offers a haven of relaxation. Originally a gatehouse for Dunlappie House, the property has been very comfortably furnished and equipped with a cosy wood burner. With sunny aspects in the living room and bedroom, Dunlappie Lodge is a great choice for couples and small families. There are many good walks in the area, ideal for wildlife lovers, such as at Glen Prosen, Clova, Glen Isla and Glen Esk. Visit the Caterthuns, two Iron Age forts nearby, or take a look around the Edzell’s selection of shops, tearooms and parks.
There is a very good golf course just half a mile from the house, with numerous others within easy reach. To the north lie the magnificent Angus Glens leading deep into the Cairngorms, which has fantastic walking, climbing and mountain biking throughout the national park. 15 miles to the east are the picturesque fishing villages, cliffs and excellent beaches at St Cyrus, Lunan Bay and Montrose. Alternatively, take the Victorian Heritage Trail through Royal Deeside to Braemar via the scenic Cairn o’ Mount Road, which offers panoramic views over the Howe o’ the Mearns and the Vale of Strathmore. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

Lovely location peaceful and quiet.Edzell village approximately 1 mile good for shopping for food excellent butchers and handy Spar shop.Easy access to places of interest. The Caledonian Railway had an afternoon tea On 5th June was excellent the next one will be 5th September well worth doing.There are other special events during June,July and August. They have a very good cafe called the Whistle Stop the food is exemplary all home made cakes soup etc. Easy access forArbroath,Montrose,Fettercairn, Brechin. The Folk museum very interesting and has a nice cafe. In Montrose the Training school for pilots during the war is very interesting and also the museum about Montrose and surrounding are is very informative. We went to Braemar on the heritage trail the scenery is breathtaking.In Edzell the Panmure Hotel good for food .All the places I have mentioned were dog friendly.

Escape the rat race that’s Dunlappie Lodge . Couldn’t ask for more, lots of outside space in peaceful settings. If you want golf ,castles , walks it’s all there.. Graham the owner was there to welcome us and answer any questions. Would I have stayed another week? Yes, most definitely.
