Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage generally appears to be well-maintained, though there are isolated comments about unclean drawers and the need for a more thorough clean, particularly in outdoor areas and the refuse bin. The majority of guests did not raise cleanliness as an issue.

The location is frequently praised for its beauty and proximity to the beach and walking opportunities. It is described as a quiet village, ideal for a restful stay. The scenic surroundings and nearby attractions contribute to a positive experience.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, but some have mentioned that the lounge seating could be more comfortable and the shower room is cramped. The presence of a noisy boiler in a bedroom was also noted as a discomfort for some.

The cottage is well-appointed with necessary amenities and a few guests appreciated the attention to detail. However, there are several mentions of maintenance issues such as a broken drawer, difficulty with blinds, and a loose lock. The small shower and distance to the bathroom were also noted.

The welcome pack was a highlight for many guests, indicating a level of thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gifts, while appreciated, are not guaranteed for every stay. Other thoughtful touches include spare toiletries and extra blankets.

About this property

Abroath 4.1 miles. This welcoming, semi-detached bungalow rests in the fishing village of Auchmithie, close to the amenities of Abroath, on the picturesque Angus coast. Blue Skies Cottage can accommodate for up to five guests and is a charming holiday base for exploring this scenic part of Scotland. Step through the front door into the entrance hallway and pop off your walking boots and jackets before finding the sitting room. Here you can lounge on the sofa whilst the woodburning stove heats up those cold feet, while the chef of the group can take to the kitchen to prepare a well-deserved feast. There are two bedrooms at this Auchmithie cottage, including a king-size double and a family room with double and single bed. Completing the interior is the shower room with walk-in shower, basin and WC. The village stands above 120ft cliffs, which provides an elevated viewpoint over the North Sea, while below there is a pebble beach, an old and partly derelict harbour and some fascinating rock architecture. There is superb walking and cycling along the coastal routes with superb views accompanying you, as well as the wide range of wildlife. Take a 20 minute car drive to the stunning sandy beach at Lunan, a favourite with surfers and horse riders, there is a medieval castle and a cave to explore here. Head into Arbroath and stroll along the sandy beaches as the taste of salty sea fills the aroma before dining at one of the first-class restaurants, including the The Old Boatyard restaurant which serves a delicious fresh seafood menu. History buffs will love exploring the imposing Guthrie Castle, set in landscaped grounds and dating back to the 15th century, it provides a great opportunity to learn about the local heritage. Further afield lies the bustling coastal city of Dundee, which benefits from access to a large number of art galleries and museums detailing Scotland's heritage. Blue Skies Cottage is a lovely choice for a family or couple seeking a retreat to Scotland’s east coast.

Arbroath lies 15 northeast of Dundee on Scotland’s Angus coastline. The town is famous for its long sandy beaches and stunning sandstone cliffs that stretch out to either side of the town. Within the town there is also a number of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés, as well as some fascinating buildings such as the Arbroath Abbey and Arbroath Smokie, both well worth a visit. Coastal walks and cycling can be enjoyed from the town and there are a few golf courses nearby.

Felt very comfortable staying there. The cottage had everything you need and a lot of attention was paid to this. Would highly recommend. Only one small issue, which wasn’t a problem for me, but you had to walk through the house from the bedrooms to get to the shower/toilet area.

The cottage was cosy and comfortable, and had everything we needed (except a teapot but that wasn't a huge problem!). The fact that we were able to store our bikes in the shed was a big consideration for us, as we'd travelled by train and bike, and used our bikes for transport while we were there. Auchmithie is a fine spot, with good opportunities to walk, cycle and sightsee. Our stay even coincided with an event by the Scottish Geology Trust, which was fascinating.
