A working estate abundant with wildlife, Scots pine trees and heather covered moorland, there is a selection of unique accommodation set in beautiful and varied locations. There is something here to suit all tastes, whether you are looking for a venue for larger groups, or something smaller for family or friends. Ford Cottage offers unique, secluded, and comfortable self-catering accommodation in the heart of Royal Deeside.

This traditional, single-storey, granite cottage sits in an unrivalled position in a peaceful woodland location on the banks of the River Dee. Decorated and furnished to a high standard with free Wi-Fi, Ford Cottage benefits from a modern extension expanding the accommodation to provide an open plan kitchen, dining and living room with a wood-burning stove. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide picturesque views overlooking the river to the village of Kincardine O’Neil beyond. The properties provide the perfect base for exploring the many visitor attractions within the area including National Trust for Scotland castles of Craigievar, a fine example of Scottish Baronial architecture; Crathes, an enchanting 16th-century tower house; and Drum, one of Royal Deeside’s top historic attractions. Being only five miles from Aboyne, nine miles from Banchory, and less than an hour’s drive from Aberdeen, Ballogie is ideal for those who want to get away from it all yet would still like to be within easy reach of local towns and cities.

Scotland is one of the finest salmon fishing destinations in Europe, and the River Dee is a lure for fly fishing enthusiasts from all over the world. If fishing is not your thing, there are many other activities in the surrounding area including hill walking, quad biking and pony trekking. The area is a mecca for wildlife enthusiasts, with the Muir of Dinnet Reserve, the Lochnagar Reserve and Mar Estate offering chances to glimpse ospreys, otters and wildfowl especially on the Lochs Kinnord and Davan. The ski slopes at the Lecht and Glenshee can be easily reached. Locally, the towns of Ballater, Aboyne and Banchory have plenty of artisan shops and there are good eating places on the estate itself.

There is open water in the property grounds.
