    About this property

Perched on the enchanting Antrim coast with overlooking sea views, is the quaint Woodleigh Cottage. Offering a wealth of character and an abundance of things to do, this 1897-built cottage promises a splendid retreat to Northern Ireland. As you walk through the front door you are welcomed into a reception room, where you can kick off your shoes before lounging around in the sitting room, where you can look forward to cosying up in front of a warming woodburning fire. Moving through the property you will find an amply equipped kitchen, where you will be delighted with the welcoming treats that await your arrival. Continuing to impress is a delightful sun room, where during the warmer months you can select a book to enjoy before sinking into the sofa. As the evening draws to a close, retire to one of the two idyllic bedrooms, comprising of a twin bedroom and a king-size double bedroom, benefitting from it very own en-suite shower room. Spend a moment or two outside within the beautifully-kept enclosed rear garden, where you will find an elevated sitting area with spectacular sea views during a clear summer’s day. Venture out to the town of Ballycastle, where you will find a wealth of eateries and shops, perfect for an evening out or picking up any holiday essentials. Whilst staying at Woodleigh Cottage, you will find a number of attractions and amenities to keep you and your loved ones busy. Within Ballycastle itself, you will find a charming marina, a challenging golf-course and the Ballycastle Strand, where you can spend a summer’s day soaking up the sun. Further afield is the National Trust Carrick-a-Rede, where you can explore the small island after stepping across the rope bridge. A 10-minute drive will bring you to Giant's Causeway, where you will be able to walk along the wonderful cliff-top trail. Whatever the weather, Woodleigh Cottage promises a wonderful family getaway.

Ballycastle is a small town resting within County Antrim, and is a superb base for touring Northern Island. In 2016 it was voted one of the best paces to live by The Sunday Times. The home plays host to a golf course, a Blue Flag beach and a range of local shops and eateries. Close by is the National Trust owned Giant’s Causeway, where you can enjoy the spectacular scenery.

" There were so many thoughtful touches throughout the cottage - it really made a difference. The only reason we went through was that they held the rights over the reservation after a cancellation - we would have had no qualms about booking directly with our host. "

"She showed us round, told us where everything is kept and provided a lovely welcome food basket. There was plenty of information about the area and attractions. The cottage was extremely comfortable, well maintained, beautiful garden and parking space. I would stay there again and definitely recommend it. We had a fantastic stay."

" We were late getting in, it was dark and wet. We found the cottage easily and the owner, Eleanor, was there and greeted us warmly. She walked us through the cottage, showing us the amenities for our use and how things worked. There was also a bulletin board in the kitchen with instructions and a book in the livingroom with restaurant listings and pamphlets of local sights. She had a welcome basket for us which included freshly made wheaten bread, homemade marmalade, eggs and other goodies plus milk and margarine in the refrigerator!! We asked about a nearby restaurant where we could get a meal and she said follow me. We followed her into town where she suggested a couple of places. The cottage was very comfortable from the cozy living room with a small wood stove to the sun room where we watched Lorenzo blow in! The beds were very comfortable and always hot water for showers. We highly recommend Woodleigh Cottage and if we are fortunate enough to return to this beautiful area we would stay at Woodleigh. Thank you Eleanor! "

" It is ideally located within a 30-mimute drive to several attractions in the area. It's a 6-minute drive to the lovely town of Ballycastle. The cottage has a warm and cozy vibrancy with a beautiful view of the coast. The outdoor garden seating area is charming. The host Eleanor was both accommodating and accessible for any questions we had during our stay. As a frequent VRBO renter I highly recommend this gem! "

" It’s always a good sign if you are planning a return trip before you’ve finished the one you are on and that’s exactly what I found myself doing on a number of occasions during my one week stay at Woodleigh Cottage. The cottage is situated on a breath taking section of coastline about one mile outside Ballycastle town. The view takes in Rathlin Island, the west coast of Scotland and (Game of Thrones film location) and Fairhead to the east. I could never tire of looking out at this. Driving to work this morning through heavy rain, I found myself wondering what the visibility would be like at Woodleigh. Would I be able to see Rathlin or would it eventually appear later in the day as the rain and mist dispersed? Woodleigh is perfectly located on the north Antrim coast – turn right for Ballycastle, the area’s best kept secret Murlough Bay, Fairhead, the Glens of Antrim and turn left for the under-rated Kinbane Castle (a must do!), Portaneevy lookout (spectacular viewpoint), Carrick-a-Rede, Ballintoy Harbour, Giants Causeway etc. The list of places to visit from here is endless. It made for an excellent base – and a warm and cosy one too! I found Eleanor, the owner, to be the perfect host. Woodleigh Cottage was immaculate with beautiful furniture and décor and excellent facilities – washing machine, dishwasher, coffee machine etc. The attention to detail was excellent – a dvd player, dvds, books, board games etc. The wifi connection was excellent also. It may be a holiday home – but it is looked after with love and certainly does not feel like one. The welcome basket was a lovely gesture – it came with freshly baked wheaten bread, homemade marmalade jam, tea, coffee, cereal, cookies etc. There was even milk and margarine in the fridge. The garden was very well maintained with a beautiful rockery and a picnic table perfectly positioned to take in the views also. I also felt the rental rate was very reasonably priced and represented excellent value for money. All I need to do now is get my diary out and my next visit booked before life takes over and I miss out! "

" Woodleigh cottage is far bigger than we expected and the views are incredible. It was a fantastic base to go off exploring some of the famous sites during the day, and comforting to know that we get to spend the evenings relaxing in front of the wood burner with lots of peace and quiet and views of the lighthouses. The extra perks that Eleanor went to really put the cherry on the cake. Highly recommend this cottage. "
