About this property
Nestled in the small village of Thornton, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, is this superb old Methodist chapel. Internally, the property has been renovated into a stylish and contemporary holiday home for small families and a group of friends seeking to explore this lovely rural area, with easy access into the thriving city of York, the Yorkshire Wolds and the East Yorkshire Coast. Entering the property, you will be greeted to an open-plan living space, with two plush sofas to curl up on and spend the evening catching up with your favourite shows, whilst the warming woodburning stove provides that extra bit of warmth.
Walk through to the well-equipped kitchen, housing a range of contemporary appliances so you can easily rustle up a delicious meal for the whole family to be enjoyed at the dining table over a well-deserved glass of wine. Follow the steps up to the mezzanine-floor where you will find a spacious double bedroom, with plenty of furnishings for storing your personal items and serviced by an en-suite shower room with deluxe fixtures and fittings, whilst a second double bedroom rests on the ground floor, with a family wet room to support. You are surrounded by miles' worth of landscaped gardens, perfect for exploring with long summer walks, whilst the Burnby Hall Gardens is a scenic park with two lakes and over 100+ types of water lilies.
Allerthorpe Lake, with it's open water swimming and regular triathlon events only 2 minutes away in the car. My mum and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is set in a beautiful area where we explored its surrounding areas and took time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The owner Alex was always available and checked in with us via text.It had absolutely everything we needed and both would definitely recommend!

This beautifully transformed Chapel has retained so much of it's original character. The hard work that the owner's Alex and Jenny have put in to use a large part of the original building materials in it's transformation, has ensured that the spirit of this building lives on. Although this detached Chapel stands surrounded by fields in this small village, you are not far away from the frenetic action of York. By using the grimston bar park and ride you can be into the city in 30 mins. Without the hassle of driving into York. The surrounding countryside offers plenty for the walkers and cyclists alike. With canal walks within easy reach from your doorstep. Alex and Jenny have ensured that the Chapel has everything you need for your stay and modern appliances are to a high standard, as is the overall finish and presentation of the Chapel. Many thanks to them for a warm welcome. I look forward to returning again in the future.

A really good conversion of the old chapel building, homely, comfortable, furnished to a good standard and well equipped. And with solar panels and a heat pump - green too! Owners very helpful
