About this property

Kirkby Moorside 2.9 miles. Hollyside Cottage is a beautiful character end-of-terrace cottage set in the picturesque village of Hutton-Le-Hole near Kirkby Moorside, York. A traditional stone-built cottage from the mid-19th century, which retains original character features from this period. Hollyside Cottage is an excellent base for you and your loved ones to access many scenic local and moorland walks. Park up at the front of this lovely dwelling and marvel at the weathered sandstone and traditional red pantile roof of your new home-from-home before unloading your belongings and stepping inside to begin your staycation. Be charmed by the traditional interior of the snug sitting room, decorated with rustic character with exposed wooden beams where you can just kick off your shoes and settle down in front of the TV with Freeview following a day of adventure. Continuing down two steps, enter into the open-plan kitchen/diner tucked away at the rear of the property and boasting views out to the spacious garden over to Hutton Beck, fully-equipped with a range of amenities including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge with freezer box and a washing machine, and look forward to gathering together around the dining table to indulge in a heart-warming meal with your loved ones. Carry the conversation outdoors to the peaceful setting of your private garden and take a seat on the patio to recount the day's adventurers over a crisp glass of wine, backed by the tranquil sound of the village beck flowing nearby. As the evening grows darker, venture back indoors and climb the stairs to the first floor where you'll find two sumptuous double bedrooms with drawers for storage, one tucked under the intimate setting of the sloped ceiling, offering unspoilt views of the starlit night sky through the elegant Velux window, and the other which overlooks the village green. In the morning, kick-start your day with an invigorating rinse in the spacious walk-in shower cubicle, stylishly adorned with marble tiling, before lacing up your walking boots and heading out to explore your surroundings. Venture into the local village where you will find and excellent selection of cafes, craft/gift shops and a Folk museum where you can brush up on the local history, as well as a welcoming pub which serves tasty meals. A short drive away, you will find the beautiful town of Helmsley, which offers a wider selection of eateries as well as delightful independent ships, perfect for picking up a souvenir! Situated within the picturesque landscape of the North York Moors National Park, you're spoilt for choice with a fabulous selection of walking, cycling and hiking trails to explore; discover the natural amphitheatre of the Devil's Punchbowl tucked away within the moorland valley of Pickering, or hike to the summit of Hasty Bank to marvel at the unique rock crags of the Wainstones. After a busy day, take a break from doing the cooking and head to the local village pub, The Crown, where you can indulge in a delicious bite to eat or treat yourself to a refreshing pint of ale on the terrace, or if you'd prefer, pick up some freshly baked goods from The Old School House to enjoy from the comfort of your holiday home. Immerse yourself in local history with a visit to Ryedale Folk Museum, with fascinating collections dating from the Iron Age to 1950s, or if that's not your thing, venture further afield and tackle the challenging tree-top adventure course at Go Ape Dalby. Be sure to visit the ancient market town of Pickering, home to the medieval ruins of Pickering Castle, dating back to the 13th-century; here you can journey through the surrounding countryside aboard a steam-hauled train at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway which offers trips to the seaside town of Whitby, or hear the spooky stories as you walk through the haunted streets via the Pickering Ghost Hunt. Whether you're looking to explore the scenic moors or unwind with an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Hollyside Cottage is well worth a visit, whatever time of year.

Nestled on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, ideally located between the delightful towns of Pickering and Helmsley, is the bustling market town of Kirkby Moorside. A wander through the village will find an excellent selection of well-stocked shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, as well as antique shops and a charming weekly local market which takes place in the town every Wednesday.
