Helmsley is a prestigious market town with a large market square that is surrounded by homes, hotels, and stores. It is located in a protected area of Upper Ryedale on the southern border of the North York Moors National Park. The region is significant historically since Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard, both owned by English Heritage, are close by. Helmsley also has a castle from the 12th century. Helmsley also has a theatre where plays and movies are shown, as well as an outdoor pool that is open throughout the summer. The Cleveland Way begins in Helmsley, and there is good walking just outside your door. The nearby North York Moors are also beautiful year-round with their hidden dales and villages.

The apartment was exceptionally well presented and included some nice personal touches from the owner, which made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped inside. The location is truly beautiful with views over the river Rye. The owner was friendly and easy to converse with.

Although the bedrooms and bathroom were very acceptable the living room and kitchen facilities were inadequate, particularly the kitchen. It was ridiculous and I suggest an inspection from someone who has an understanding of health and safety and what is required from a kitchen. Please study the photos and take on board my previous description. I would appreciate feedback please.

Its accessed through the side gate, so dog owners, be aware that you arent able to just open the back door to let your dog out into the garden. Apartment was comfortable and warm. Bed was super comfy. Kitchenette was perfectly adequate for my needs as I was taking advantage of all the wonderful places to eat in helmsley and beyond. Lovely shower. Owners plan to install a garden hose so that any furry friends and hiking boots can be washed off before you enter the property, which will make such a difference
