Marmaduke Cottage is a charming cottage in Sancton, settled near Market Weighton, East Riding of Yorkshire. Sleeping three guests across two bedrooms, this characterful retreat is well-suited to couples, small families, and friends seeking a Yorkshire escape, with exposed beams, an enclosed garden, and easy access to the surrounding countryside.Arrive and park up roadside outside the cottage before stepping through the door into the welcoming hallway. To the right, the sitting room invites you to settle into one of the armchairs or stretch out on the sofa after a day of exploring. Exposed beams add a sense of character overhead, while the electric log burner effect creates a warm glow as you flick on the TV and unwind with your favourite programme.
From here, wander through to the kitchen/diner, where further exposed beams continue the cottage's traditional appeal. The kitchen is equipped with everything needed for preparing hearty breakfasts before a day out or evening meals to enjoy together around the dining table. The tiled flooring makes this a practical space for coming and going, while doors open directly onto the garden, encouraging relaxed mornings with a cup of tea or leisurely afternoons spent enjoying the fresh air. Outside, the enclosed garden offers a lovely extension of the living space. Dine out on the patio furniture amongst colourful flowers, soak up the sunshine across the lawn, or simply sit back with a good book while enjoying this pleasant outdoor setting.
When the evening draws to a close, head upstairs to discover the bedrooms. The double bedroom enjoys views towards the church, offering an attractive backdrop to wake up to each morning. The single bedroom provides an inviting spot for a restful night's sleep and also benefits from armchairs where guests can sit and enjoy a quiet moment before the day begins. Completing the interior is the family bathroom, ideal for freshening up before setting off on your next adventure. A traditional pub can be reached with a short stroll from the cottage, while a handy shop is just a brief journey away for picking up essentials.
The vibrant city of York is within easy reach and offers a wonderful day out exploring the magnificent York Minster, wandering the medieval streets of The Shambles, and uncovering centuries of history at the JORVIK Viking Centre. Head to Beverley to admire the impressive Beverley Minster, browse the independent shops that line its historic streets, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon in the town's welcoming cafés. For those who enjoy the outdoors, the Yorkshire Wolds provide rolling countryside, picturesque walking routes, and charming villages that showcase the beauty of this corner of Yorkshire. Whether you're discovering historic towns, enjoying local dining, or simply relaxing amongst the cottage's characterful surroundings, Marmaduke Cottage provides a delightful base for your East Riding of Yorkshire getaway.
