Situated in the charming village of Wheldrake, this cosy detached bungalow offers a peaceful holiday base just 8 miles from the centre of the historic city of York. With regular daily buses, visitors can easily access the numerous attractions including the Jorvik Centre, castle and railway museums and the magnificent minster. There is so much to enjoy with boat trips on the River Ouse, walks around the city walls, theatres, galleries and a wealth of individual shops and traditional tea rooms. The Yorkshire Air Museum, Burnby Hall Gardens and Wheldrake Ings Nature Reserve are all close by, whilst the scenic Yorkshire Wolds and the East Yorkshire Coast are just a short and scenic drive away. Shop, pub, restaurant and Italian café 800 yards.

The cottage was quite comfortable but was a bit dated. It had a bit of a smell when you entered the front door which was the only entrance as it did not have a back door. We only booked because it said there was a hot tub so as it was our silver wedding anniversary was looking forward to it but unfortunately we were unable to use the hot tub as it was very dirty. Texted the owner on the Monday evening but no reply so rang the office the following morning Tuesday and was told it would be sorted. The owner turned up on Thursday morning 30 mins before we had to leave the cottage. Very disappointing

STAY CLEAR. Upon arrival strong smell of bleach hits you as you enter. When you turn the heating up a musty/damp smell gets on your chest. Damp traps everywhere. Black furry mould in every room, in more than one place. Condensation is terrible. Mould ingrained on kitchen work tops. Curtains smells damp and musty. Hot tub was grainy on the floor and white and black bits floating and coming out of the jets. Had to leave early as my daughter was taken ill. Advised to leave by medics as she was suffering respiratory issues due to the black mould. She is now having to be medicated and under close surveillance. Put cardboard boxes under the bed and after 6 days they were mouldy. Contacted the owner to tell him what had happened and he didn’t even have the decency to message me back. Also contacted cottages.com and no response from them either. Ruined our Christmas and New year celebrations. We saved all year to take the kids away for a magical time and was left out of pocket and all very emotional. A magical time of year ended in tears. A review from August where someone experienced the same issues as us. The response was that it was being dealt with. It clearly hasn’t been 4 months later. Everything is miss match. Not a matching set of plates, cups, glasses. It’s clear that this place isn’t cared about. From the photos it’s not really clear but basically you are a bungalow in someone’s back garden. It’s not taken care of and neither is the bungalow next door. It’s an eye saw. Bitterly disappointed.*****. AVIOD*******
