Situated in the charming village of Wheldrake, this cosy detached bungalow offers a peaceful holiday base just 8 miles from the centre of the historic city of York. With regular daily buses, visitors can easily access the numerous attractions including the Jorvik Centre, castle and railway museums and the magnificent minster. There is so much to enjoy with boat trips on the River Ouse, walks around the city walls, theatres, galleries and a wealth of individual shops and traditional tea rooms. The Yorkshire Air Museum, Burnby Hall Gardens and Wheldrake Ings Nature Reserve are all close by, whilst the scenic Yorkshire Wolds and the East Yorkshire Coast are just a short and scenic drive away. Shop, pub, restaurant and Italian café 800 yards.

Some crockery dirty and the hot tub was very strong smell of bleach. Bed linen and towels clean and a nice quiet place. A large 2 seater and a chair in the lounge area so not adequate for 4 adults.

We have just returned from a week here and had a fabulous stay. I honestly don't understand the negative reviews. The studio was excellent, with plenty of space, lots of amenities and clean. I was worried based on other reviews but really didn't need to be. On arrival, we had no trouble finding the place. It's signposted and located down a little track just behind the main house. We found the place comfortable and a perfect base for exploring. The hot tub was a fabulous addition and we spent every night in there. Instructions for use were clear and easy. The property had a couple of little quirks but we found them charming rather than annoying 😊 For example, the smoke alarm went off when we used the oven but a quick blast of the tea towel shut it up, the shower took a while to warm up but we started it running a few minutes before getting in, and the WiFi wire was a little temperamental. Again, easy to fix though. If you want everything absolutely perfect then book something else. But for the price, in the height of summer, it was just what we wanted. Wheldrake is a gorgeous little village. The local pub was fab for sunday lunch, albeit expensive. There a Co-op open for decent hours although also expensive. If you're driving, there are plenty of supermarkets within 15-20 minutes. Wheldrake also has a nice park, perfect for us with our 5 year old, and a bus service directly into York. We didn't get chance to visit this time but thete us a nature reserve and wild swimming just outside the village as well. We went into York, to Flamingo Land, went bowling, crazy golfing, and just had a fantastic time. York Maze also looks great, so that's on the list for next time.

Hot tub was lovely and clean and very relaxing. Area peaceful. Cottage was very clean and well equipped with necessary kitchen equipment needed for cooking. I highly recommend this cottage was worried a bit about some if the reviews regarding issues with this place and was relieved there were none. Obviously a bit of outside ground improvement going on. But I can see that these will be beneficial to the surrounding area of the cottage
