Guests say

Mill House is a charming, cosy cottage in a peaceful village setting, ideal for walkers and those seeking a tranquil retreat. Guests praise its spaciousness, well-equipped kitchen, and beautiful, secure garden, perfect for dogs. The proximity to Rievaulx Abbey and Helmsley is a highlight, as are the scenic views and abundance of local walks. While some mention low beams and a steep, uneven drive, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests returning for repeat stays.

Guests consistently describe the cottage as very clean and well maintained, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its beauty, tranquillity, and proximity to Rievaulx Abbey, Helmsley, and excellent walking routes. The only minor concern is the steep, bumpy driveway.

Reviewers frequently mention the cottage's cosiness, warmth (even in winter), and spaciousness. Some note low beams and doorways, but these are expected in a historic property and do not detract significantly from comfort.

The cottage is described as extremely well equipped, with a popular Aga, open fire, and secure garden. A few guests mention a need for more equipment instructions and the Aga being on in hot weather, but overall satisfaction is high.

There are no specific mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

We loved the location but were wary about the bumpy driveway access especially if it had been wet. It was also a bit of an issue having to have the aga on all the time in very hot weather. There was also a need for more instructions in the cottage about equipment.. James the estate manager was very helpful especially when we had a power cut!
