Kirkbymoorside 3.5 miles. Positioned within a beautiful and quiet courtyard setting, on the southerly fringes of the North York Moors National Park, is Barn Cottage. This beautiful homestay rests in the hamlet of Marton, just outside of Kirkbymoorside, giving you access to Helmsley, Pickering and so much more. Stone-built, with a pantile roof, this converted barn offers a family of four or a group of friends the opportunity to explore a wonderful region of Yorkshire. Park up your car in front of the garage or directly in front of the cottage and step into the hallway, where you can kick off your walking boots and hang your coats after a brisk countryside trail. This then leads through to a contemporary, well-equipped kitchen/diner, complete with lovely, fitted units and a large dresser, in which you can stock all of your favourite treats. This lovely room offers seating for four and is a homely space to host family dinners around the dining table. After washing up, head into the cosy sitting room and unwind with your loved ones, choosing to watch a programme on the Freesat TV or simply chat about the day's events and plan tomorrow's. The oak flooring and beautiful stone fireplace add bundles of character to the cottage, allowing you to make the most of a country cottage getaway with the warmth of a woodburning stove. Upstairs is a double bedroom and a twin with zip/link beds, both containing fitted wardrobes and served by the family bathroom, where a bath with shower over is perfect for an afternoon bubble bath. Kirkbymoorside is a charming, historic market town on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, halfway between Helmsley and Pickering. This quaint town has a lot of Yorkshire charm, serving as the hub for the surrounding farms and towns. There are a number of shops to choose from, including tea houses, taverns, and restaurants, as well as antique shops, and a market day is held every Wednesday The National Park's superb walking and scenery are close by.

The only negative feedback we would give is that the previous visitors had not picked up after their dog in the garden and that some of the pots were not clean.

Ideal for a holiday in the Ryedale area very handy for all attractions. Off-street parking and enclosed garden for dogs excellent. The observations I have is no dishwasher expecially for fully self-catering I personally think more useful and standard in most kitchens than a washing machine. I wash dishes daily I do not wash clothes daily. Could do with something to dispose of embers if using log burner. Dishwasher aside we enjoyed our stay and will be booking again.

After visiting the local towns of Pickering, Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside all with excellent eating out choices it was great to get back to the warm and comfortable cottage. It has a cosy ambiance in the lounge and everything you need to cook or snack in the kitchen. The bedroom was spacious and the Super King bed was a treat. Everything was spotless and some lovely treats left by the owner ( a big thank you for that). Just one point to make we got lost one night on the lanes so advise using the Satnav. Overall we had a fabulous time and the Cottage made our holiday.
