Having no hot water on arrival and throughout our stay was an issue and not resolved during our stay! Cookware was tired and the frying pan desperately needed replacing! The handbook needed updating . Information about hot water was inaccurate and guests need to know very clearly that the cottage has no mobile phone service- that they can only use and receive email and WhatsApp. A walk up to the car park is the only way to use the telephone for all numbers in the handbook . Ordering taxis and takeaway off the cards. Staithes itself is lovely .

The cottage itself is lovely. Perfect size. Lovely bath. The smell in the living room was so bad I couldn't sit in there. The table and counter tops in the kitchen were black with grime, the shelves in the door of the fridge were really dirty, the grill in the oven was left in there used and dirty. The drainer on draining board was filthy. The toilet brush in downstairs toilet was very dirty. There was a noticeable amount of dust and dirt on skirting boards downstairs. The dominos where full of mould. And I didn't say anything while there because 1. It's obvious from other reviews that there is a big issue with the cleaners that isn't being addressed properly and 2. It would of taken them at least five hours to clean the cottage properly and I just wanted to enjoy my holiday and not have to worry about arranging it and having to be out that long. I have taken pictures of some of the issues we came across so I could send them too you if that would help in any way. Sorry for the negative feedback but I feel like your cleaners are really letting you down and the people who work hard all year to save up to go on holiday deserve better. Thank you

However, although you have placed a number of warning posters that reads 'please mind your head', may I suggest that it will not be amiss to place a strip of sponge on the top of the entrance from the kitchen into the lounge, for the sake of unaware and the unaccustomed. Also, placing appropriate pieces of felt under the feet of the dining chairs will make them less noisy and it will also protect the kitchen floor.
