The cottage boasts a delightful southerly outlook with uninterrupted sea views of the bay and out to sea from the living area and main bedroom. It is sheltered by high craggy cliffs at the side and rear of the property. With vehicular access and free parking for two cars at the property itself, a rare commodity in the village!
The property has been refurbished and maintained to a very good standard with tasteful decor and furnishings throughout, whilst maintaining its original character and charm. It is an ideal place to unwind and relax, with excellent views of the bay and the sea beyond. This well-equipped property provides an excellent base for couples and families looking to explore and enjoy this beautiful area.
A short stroll will take you across the bridge and harbour side, making this an ideal self-catering property from which to enjoy a beach holiday with all the family. Situated in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park area, it is a haven for keen walkers with the cottage situated close to the famous Cleveland Way that runs down the cliff side to the sea edge covering 110 miles. The area is renowned for fossil hunting, fishing and interesting rock pools hence the naming of the cottage. Staithes claims a connection with Captain Cook who served his apprenticeship to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire coast, with its quaint cobbled streets, good selection of locally sourced restaurants, quaint tea rooms and art galleries.
The enchanting CBeebies ’Rockpool Tales’ is filmed in Staithes and is a must for all youngsters to visit and explore where all the adventures took place. The historical town of Whitby is 10 miles away and is famous for its connections with Bram Stoker’s book ’Dracula’ and of course delicious fish and chips which you must sample whilst enjoying a great day out. You can even step back in time and explore local areas using the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway whilst taking in the picturesque surroundings.

We had a lovely time in the cottage in early January, and enjoyed being ‘iced in’ for a couple of days as we didn’t attempt to get the car up the hill.It’s in a beautiful location and provided peace and quiet with gorgeous views and the ability to walk from the front door. We were warm and cosy from wintery weather, the cottage was as described with excellent facilities, and the welcome pack was much appreciated.We did nearly have to take two cars, and although cottages.com said there were two parking permits available only one was provided - this might have been a issue had we not managed to sort logistics, and the information maybe just needs updating.We had a great time - thank you.

Comfortable cottage in a lovely location with easy access over the footbridge to the village and with parking. We used it as a base to visit North Yorkshire but the local coast walking was also good. Cottage well equipped and had everything we needed.
