Guests say

Beck View Cottage is a charming and cosy retreat in the heart of Staithes, praised for its excellent location and comfortable beds. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen and the cottage’s character, making it a great base for exploring the area. While the cottage offers a warm and homely atmosphere, some guests noted areas for improvement in cleanliness and maintenance. Overall, it provides good value and a memorable stay in a picturesque village.

Several guests mentioned issues such as dust, cobwebs, food remnants, and pet hair, indicating that cleaning standards could be improved. However, some reviews found the property acceptably clean, suggesting inconsistency in housekeeping.

The location is consistently praised as excellent, right in the centre of Staithes with easy access to local attractions, walks, and amenities. The only minor drawback is the challenging parking situation, which is typical for the area.

Guests frequently compliment the comfortable beds and cosy atmosphere. Some mention the cottage can be cold on arrival and that the spiral staircase may be tricky, but overall comfort is rated positively.

The cottage is well-equipped with kitchen essentials, heating, and WiFi. Some guests noted minor maintenance issues, such as a faulty lock, missing grill tray, and the need for more cleaning supplies, but these were generally resolved quickly.

Guests appreciated prompt responses from the hosts and, in one case, a gift following an issue, though such gestures are not guaranteed. Some suggested the addition of hand wash and a welcome pack would enhance the experience.

Cottage was very dated and very cold! The staircase was an accident waiting to happen as very steep and slippy The fireplace hadn't been cleaned and the floor was sandy, there was a small vacuum which didn't work until we had to empty it as it was full of pet hair and hadn't been emptied for a long time and was blocked up. The windows were dirty finding it difficult to look out. No welcome fire pack so we had to go buy fuel as the cottage was freezing The car park was at the top of a steep hill and wasn't explained clearly in the info that only the small council carpark was free until march, which was always full so we had to use the other carpark which was £10 for 24 hours. The location was perfect right in the middle of the village but the cottage itself could be so much nicer with some TLC and a good clean and freshen up. Also would be nice to have a welcome pack and maybe switch the heaters on for guests arriving as it took us ages to warm up.
