Being just a stone's throw away from Howden, as you walk down the cobbled streets you will find a train station just a five minute walk away, with trains taking you to York City Centre in less than half an hour, where you will find local pubs and wine bars, local butchers and bakers where you will be able to buy the finest local produce, ensuring your stay is well-catered for. In addition to the eating establishments, Christmas time in York boasts the famous York Christmas Markets. Also close by is the small town of Wressle which is a domesday village with a castle and loads of walks for dog lovers and rides for cyclists boasting a beautiful countryside. This cosy cottage offers a well-appointed kitchen and utility area, ideal for cooking up delicious home-cooked meals. You can get everyone around the dining table next door to discuss plans for your trip as you tuck into a plate of steaming hot food. Later, move through to the sitting room and unwind into your evening with a good book by the warmth of the fire, get competitive over a board game or tune into the TV and watch a film. Once you are fully relaxed, climb the staircase to find a bright and airy double bedroom showcasing dual-aspect windows filling the room with natural light and views over pleasant greenery with Wressle Castle in the background. This master bedroom is followed by the family bathroom and a single bedroom with a pull out bed which make it ideal either for children or a third adult. Soak up a balmy, summer's day on the patio with a spot of alfresco dining or a chilled drink, and catch up on the day you've just had as occasional horses pass by. From the cottage, Wressle train station is easily accessed, with trains taking you to York and Hull, for fun days out with the family. Other close towns which are easily accessible are Pocklington and Beverley where you will be able to see the world famous big Hockney skies and Beverley Minster. Choose to explore the area on one of the three bicycles parked up outside the property; a sunny afternoon through picturesque countryside or on the Yorkshire Wolds can be rewarded with a refreshing pint in one of the local pubs in the area. The town of Selby is nearby, where you can discover Selby Abbey which will have particular interest to any Americans as this is where the Washington family window has been there for hundreds of years where you can also grab a bite to eat at one of its fine restaurants. Find the city of York a memorable experience with opportunities to explore The Shambles, its magnificent Minster cathedral and many shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as museums and its racecourse. This is a splendid retreat to be enjoyed the year-round. You can bring your own horse if you wish, please book horses directly with the owner. Howden is a small historic market town in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It lies about 20 miles south-east of York. The town of Howden is dominated by its beautiful Minster, which leads to a beautifully preserved Georgian town centre, with narrow cobbled streets and restored buildings with some attractive shops, historic coaching inns and charming tea rooms, and a small market which takes place each Friday. On the outskirts of the town, Howden Marsh is a lovely place for a quiet walk, with a lake and small islands which have become habitat for birds and wildlife
