The property is located a few hundred yards from beautiful views of the sea and Whitby Abbey, and only a few minutes from the fabulous beach, where families can enjoy a relaxing day sunbathing, playing a variety of beach games and even learning to surf! Within 5 minutes are: cinema, ice cream parlour, crazy golf, amusement arcades, paddling pool, surf board hire & lessons, indoor swimming pool & sports facilities. The Abbey itself is within driving distance, or a 15 minute walk, and is perched on a clifftop overlooking the town, and was said to be the home of the first known poet, featuring a wealth of culture and history inside. If it's history you're looking for then the Captain Cook Memorial Museum is for you, showcasing displays on Cook's life and voyages to the South Pacific, dating back to the 18th century. This holiday apartment is very noisy if people are on holiday in the above house,not deliberate noise but general walking about,and up stairs,it says nothing about it being a basement apartment,there is very limited natural light,the rear door to the property,is in constant use,we were asked not to park at the rear of the property except for unloading ,yet the family living in the house constantly parked at the rear,

The two windows at either end of the kitchen/dining room/lounge, looked out onto brick walls. The floor felt gritty underfoot and there were cobwebs in the bathroom and bedroom. We had an issue with the car parking scratch card as we assumed it was for the week and it turned out only to be a 2 day parking card and we got a parking ticket. When we contacted the owner of the property, she said we should've had scratch cards to cover us for the whole week and she'd get the cleaner to drop one off for us the next day. In the meantime we had to pay for a day's parking out of our own pocket. Owner said she'd reimburse us for parking fine and the extra parking charge we had to pay and she has only just done this 3 weeks after we returned home. On the plus side, the bed was extremely comfortable and the apartment was nicely furnished. Always a bonus to have a dishwasher and washing machine too. Personally, I felt very claustrophobic being in a basement apartment with only 1 set of stairs as an exit.

Very well resourced with good quality tableware and cookware. Entrance at rear of property is not well lit - was wet and full of puddles one evening. Owner responsive to queries and tried to resolve an issue.
