With its open-plan layout, an enclosed patio and proximity to the local amenities and beach, The Woodpecker is the perfect spot for couples, friends, and families looking for a peaceful getaway. Step inside and be welcomed into a bright and airy open-plan living space, comprising a kitchen, dining area and sitting area, all decorated in a contemporary and elegant fashion. Find yourself a spot and relax in front of the TV, while the chef of the group whips up a delicious meal in the kitchen, ready to be enjoyed around the dining table. If you prefer to dine alfresco, head out to the enclosed rear patio, where you can sit and soak up the sea air with a glass of bubbly or even a cup of tea whilst you watch the sun set on the horizon. When the stars come out and the evening draws in, make your way through to the sleek shower room to wash away the day, before hunkering down in one of the two king-size bedrooms, both featuring TVs, and perfect for unwinding in ahead of another day of exciting adventures. The North York National Park and surrounding areas are brimming with iconic sights and activities to discover. Visit Pickering to explore the remains of the 16th-century site of Pickering Castle or wander around the beach with its abundance of wildlife waiting to be discovered. Take a trip to the coastal town of Whitby, most famous for the hauntingly beautiful ruins of Whitby Abbey, or venture further afield to the bustling city of York, with its grand gothic Minster and thriving independent shops. You could even stay local to discover many delights of Scarborough, whose sandy beaches, and activities welcome guests with open arms all year round. The Woodpecker provides the perfect opportunity to explore all that this wonderful corner of Yorkshire has to offer.

Popular since Victorian times, the vibrant seaside town of Scarborough retains many of its original fine buildings, parks and gardens, as well as its historic castle which overlooks the town. North Bay and South Bay provide two superb stretches of beautiful, golden sandy beaches, popular with families and small children. There are a number of child friendly activities and many excellent visitor attractions for grown-ups too, including the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Spa and Scarborough Open Air Theatre for live music. Scarborough is a great location for outdoor activities, with golf courses, lovely coastal walks along the Cleveland Way, stunning cycle routes such as the old railway to Whitby, beautiful sailing and championship quality surfing. Add to this all the usual seaside entertainment and bustling promenades located close to the beach and Scarborough is the destination with something for everyone. Ideally situated for touring the coastline and the moors, Scarborough is an ideal base for a fun-filled break.

One of us ended up being hospitalised in that week, and the other was down with Covid. Changing the dates, as offered on the website, meant we would have had to pay over 100% extra on top of the original price. This was regardless of any alternate dates we offered. Hardly an encouragement to try to change the dates or leave us feeling any sense of fairness in play! The phone-call to you about our problem was equally disappointing to say the least, with very little flexibility or understanding. In fact you justified the additional charges by saying a lot of people book cottages in Oct, but the new price we were given ran through to Xmas. This I said to you. So how an apartment in the first week of Sept is half the price of the same property say in the first week of November beats me! This was a very last minute booking made when we were both well, so what happened to us was completely unforeseen. We are not encouraged.

We stayed here for 3 nights as a family of four to use as a base for exploring Scarborough, Whitby and the North Yorkshire Moors and it did not disappoint. The owners are on hand to help with anything and helped us to resolve an issue of our own, really quickly. Very friendly and committed to their guests, which is a breath of fresh air. The property itself is an immaculate 2 (king size) bed annex with good, comfortable living space and a beautiful kitchen which is well stocked with appliances and utensils etc for all your needs. Very clean and well kept. The only negative was that we didn’t stay for longer. What a great place. Thank you to the owners for giving us the place for a fantastic holiday!
