About this property

Enjoying North Yorkshire's delightful coast in Scarborough is this characterful, mid-terrace cottage in the hilly old town of Scarborough, less than 5 minutes’ walk from the historic Scarborough Castle. A superb base for a family of four, Kittiwake Cottage offers bespoke wooden fittings and charming, wood flooring throughout. The house has recently been renovated with a simple elegance throughout by the owner (who is a bespoke furniture designer and joiner by trade). Upon arrival, make use of the on-street permit parking before making your way inside the cottage. Make yourselves at home on the spacious, corner sofa in the tastefully furnished living/dining room with a TV available for some evening entertainment. Progress to the fabulous bespoke, fitted kitchen (with sea glimpse), a space enjoying sleek, wooden units offering generous space for storage, as well as a full range of appliances, including a dishwasher and washing machine. When the allocated chef of the group has whipped up mouthwatering dishes, be sure to enjoy them at the dining table next door with all the family. As day turns to dusk, head upstairs to find two thoughtfully laid-out bedrooms, including a double (with a king size bed) with ample storage for your belongings, and a full sized twin that is perfect for the kids; both of the bedrooms have bedside lighting and handy USB ports, so you can easily keep your devices charged throughout your stay. On the same floor is the bathroom, a space brimming with light, thanks to the large skylight, and enjoying stylish, metro tiling on the walls; after a day packed with activities, nothing beats relaxing amongst the bubbles in the bath in this fabulous spot! In the warmer months, take your morning coffee out to the secure rear yard, have an early morning stroll on the beach or along the Cleveland Way. A highlight of the house is that it rests just a stone's throw away from a range of amenities, from the wonderful indoor market hall (do not miss the bakery for one), amply stocked convenience stores and various eateries. There is so much to do in Scarborough, such as splashing about in the sea on the town's shores or in Alpamare UK, boarding the magnificent Scarborough North Bay Railway, touring the fascinating Scarborough Castle and wandering around the beautiful Peasholm Park; just to mention a few! Whitby lies further along the coast and is ideal for those with an interest in history, as it is the home of Bram Stoker's Dracula, with Whitby Abbey. Down the coast is Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve, towering chalk cliffs attracting half a million seabirds between March and October. Those seeking some adventure will be pleased to know that the North Riding Forest Park isn't far and hosts the marvellous track of Dixons Hollow Bike Park, along with the stunning areas of Adderstone Field, Raptor Viewpoint and Crosscliff & Blakey Topping. More fun amidst the great outdoors awaits at the North York Moors National Park, or perhaps you'd prefer a day out in Pickering or the coastal destinations of Ravenscar and Filey? Whether you want to go for a relaxing stroll along the beach, explore the sights or enjoy some quality time together in the cottage, you'll find Kittiwake Cottage has all you need for a wonderful break.

As one of the most popular tourist destinations in England, Scarborough has a wide range of attractions and activities for residents and visitors. Peasholm Park is located off of Queen's Road with stunning views of the North Sea. History buffs will love Scarborough Castle, the medieval fortress with the most spectacular views in town. Scarborough North Bay Railway is an attraction for train enthusiasts, located at the South Bay.

The perfect setting for two old friends to share a weekend of nostalgia, walking and fun. Ideally located between the two bays with plenty of eating places close by. It has been lovingly refurbished to a high standard creating a clean and comfortable space. We were so lucky to have sunny weather and witness sunrises and sunsets. A smashing space to create memories. Thankyou.

The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing break, it feels like a home from home. It is well equipped and has been restored to an amazing standard. The cottage is well placed to explore Scarborough, a short walk from the excellent market and sea front. Hope to return again in 2024.
