Across the road, a path leads down to the promenade and the quieter beach of North Bay, but with a couple of excellent cafes in which to indulge in. Enjoy the colourful gardens of Peasholm Park, with its boating lake, or walk along the promenade to South Bay, with its amusements, restaurants and pubs. The castle ruins, perched high on the cliffs are worth a visit, whilst culture lovers will be impressed by the renowned Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round, which features excellent productions. The beautiful surrounding countryside is well worth discovering, with its heather-clad moors, pretty villages and wonderful network of footpaths and trails for walkers. Altogether, a superb base for a varied and relaxing holiday, at any time of the year.

Scarborough is a great location for outdoor activities, with golf courses, lovely coastal walks along the Cleveland Way, stunning cycle routes such as the old railway to Whitby, beautiful sailing and championship quality surfing.
