When the evening draws to a close, pull out the sofa bed and catch some rest before starting the day over. You can sit and watch the bird life on the front patio as you sip a refreshing glass of wine and ooze in the peaceful ambiance. Just a short walk away is the village centre of Runswick Bay, a collection of red-roofed cottages, tucked away behind the cliffs overlooking the golden beach below. A traditional and quiet fishing village with access to the car park at the bottom of the hill for people with walking difficulties. There is also a labyrinth of narrow lanes with a number of pleasant pubs and tearooms toenjoy. A mix of sand and stone, Runswick Bay Beach is a popular destination for families, sun worshippers and water sports enthusiasts. Wander along the beach and take note of the Hob Holes, small caves in the cliffs where hobgoblins were supposed to live, explore the many rock pools, or search the beach rubble for fossils. The long distance walking path, Cleveland Way, passes through Runswick Bay offering plenty of walking opportunities as well as many cycling opportunities to enjoy and you will find two pubs within easy walking distance and a few local shops, including the all-important chip shop, all very close. With the spectacular North York Moors to explore and the bustling seaside town of Whitby within easy reach, these properties have something for everyone. Runswick Bay is a southeast-facing village, near the town of Whitby in North Yorkshire. It sits in a sheltered sandy-beached bay backed by cliffs and moorland scenery. It is the ideal setting in which to relax and unwind. Relish in taking long walks on either the sandy beach or along the Cleveland Way on the clifftop above. There is much to do in the local area, whether it's visiting Whitby with its famous Abbey, Staithes with its pretty shops, cafes and superb art gallery, or touring the dramatic North York Moors. The lower village houses a local inn serving food along with a spectacularly situated cafe, whilst nearby Hinderwell provides 2 inns, a fish and chip shop, a local butchers and a garage/petrol station. A Co-op is situated at Staithes 2 miles away.
