About this property

Group self-catering by the sea has never looked so good! Bourne End House is between Filey and Hunmanby Gap in the quiet village of Primrose Valley on the Yorkshire Coast. The spacious holiday home sleeps 16 people in seven bedrooms with six bathrooms, two reception rooms, a private pub, and an extensive landscaped garden with an outdoor hot tub. There is plenty in the vicinity to keep everyone happy, from gorgeous beaches to family-friendly attractions, beautiful footpaths and cycling routes, and opportunities for golf and fishing.

Bourne End House sleeps 16 people in seven bedrooms and is ideal for a self-catering holiday in Filey with family and friends. Built as a gentleman's residence over a century ago, the detached holiday home comes with all the essentials like quality bed linen and towels, as well as a few extras such as Sky TV including Sport and a hot tub. The icing on the cake for most guests is your own private pub, and the owners can even arrange for you to have an 11-gallon beer keg set up for your arrival so you can pull you own pints. High ceilings and original features give it a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere, while the extensive landscaped garden offers ample room for children to play. All of this is barely a five-minute walk from a superb sandy beach, shops, cafes, and other amenities.

Your holiday home is in Primrose Valley, south of Filey and north of Hunmanby Gap. The beach is the stuff of dreams, with soft sand and hardly a soul, especially outside of the school holidays. The beaches are dog friendly, and there is plenty to do with seaside amusements at Scarborough and local attractions like North Bay Railway, Wolds Way Lavender, Flamingo Land, the SEA life Sanctuary, Playdale Farm Park, and Piglets Adventure Farm. Walk along the coastal footpath to Filey for spectacular views in all seasons, ride your bike, go fishing or play golf. Primrose Valley has a boating lake, playground, tennis courts, and a crazy golf course for some fun family competition.

Filey is quieter than other coastal resorts in Yorkshire, making it ideal for a relaxed holiday. We recommend Filey Brigg beach for rock pools and fossil hunting, and Scarborough if you want a bit of glitz and seaside adventure. Alternatively, set up some outdoor games in the garden, light the barbecue, and make the most of the facilities at your holiday home. The owner of Bourne End House offers a discount to returning guests who love things like Sky TV including Sport so they can watch the big game, how big the rooms are, and how well-suited it is to multi-generational groups.

Accommodation Comprises:

Bourne End House is a large property with accommodation over three levels.

Ground Floor:

  • Superb kitchen/diner fully equipped for group self-catering. It features an efficient multi-fuel range cooker, big American-style fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, pots, pans, crockery, and cutlery to serve 16 people.
  • The original kitchen with an authentic cast-iron range in an inglenook fireplace and timber floorboards is now the dining room. Two scrubbed pine refectory tables are big enough for everyone to dine together.
  • Two lounges provide ample space for relaxed socialising. The bigger room has a log burner, and both have comfortable seating and a freeview TV.
  • One of the features guests highlight in their reviews is the pub! This is no average house bar but a welcoming, well-equipped space for entertaining with Sky TV including Sky Sports, a pool table, table football, and darts.
  • A light-filled conservatory leads into the landscaped gardens and provides a separate reception room.
  • While not specifically designed for guests who use a wheelchair, the ground-floor bedroom is suitable for guests with limited mobility. There is a double bed and proper storage. Across the hall, an accessible wetroom has a shower, WC and a handbasin.
  • First Floor:

  • There are three bedrooms on the first floor, sleeping seven people. The main bedroom suite has a double bed, ensuite with a rolltop bath, and ample storage.
  • A second double room features a king-sized sleigh bed and proper storage.
  • The third room has three full-sized single beds.
  • Having two bathrooms means that no one on this floor has to share. One features a jacuzzi bath, while the other has a shower.
  • An additional cloakroom with a WC eliminates uncomfortable queues.
  • Top Floor:

  • All bedrooms are beautifully furnished. There's a double room, a twin room, and a triple room with three single beds on the top floor. Beds are made up for the arrival of guests, and bath towels are provided.
  • A further two shower rooms with WCs and hand basins means there is no need to go down the stairs in the middle of the night if you need the toilet.
  • Outside: As much thought has gone into the grounds as the internal layout. There is plenty of parking on the driveway, with more on the street outside the house. The landscaped gardens include a patio with seating and a barbecue, a large hot tub, and level lawns with space to run and play.

Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen, bath towels and towels for the hot tub are included. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome by arrangement. A travel cot and a high chair are available, but guests will need to bring bedding. The house is a non-smoking property.
