About this property

Sea Breakers holiday cottage is situated in the old part of Filey, on the stunning Yorkshire Coast with direct and easy access to the beach and the Lifeboat station and amusements on Cobble Landing, as well as the town centre, where there are plenty of places to eat and many interesting independent shops. Sea Breakers is a former fisherman’s cottage constructed around 1875. It has been refurbished to a high standard and is light and airy offering spacious accommodation with two bedrooms on the first floor; the main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has full size bunk beds. The modern bathroom has a shower over a bath and heated towel rail. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric cooker, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. In the lounge there is a 32” TV with Freeview and a DVD player. The cottage has gas central heating, complimentary WiFi and is dog friendly. There is off street parking on a first-come first-served basis plus plenty of free on-street parking. Filey was voted Beach of the Year 2018 by The Sunday Times and was awarded the top platinum award in Yorkshire in Bloom 2018 for the Parks, Gardens and Open Space Category. With its glorious sweep of soft, golden sand, Filey beach is one of the best in the country for families; it’s so huge that, no matter how busy it gets, it’s never crowded! The beach is the perfect place to take a walk, fly a kite, build a sandcastle, snooze in a deckchair, or maybe do a spot of birdwatching on Filey Brigg. Early Spring may find you face to face with a snoozing seal on the beach or on the Brigg and in summer there are regular sightings of porpoises. Once you have enjoyed your time on the beach, then you can follow it up with a trip to the much-loved Cobble Landing with its picturesque jumble of boats, kiosks and amusements, for a cuppa and a bacon buttie? Filey is a great base for visiting the North Yorkshire Moors, Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay to the north, whilst to the south you can visit the lighthouse on Flamborough Head or the RSPB Reserve at Bempton Cliffs where there is some of the best bird-watching in England, or visit the attractions at Bridlington, Hornsea and Hull. Nearby Stately homes include Burton Agnes Hall (near Bridlington), Castle Howard (where Brideshead revisited was filmed) and Sledmere House. Close to the cottage is Filey Museum providing an insight into Filey’s historic past. There is further information on Filey below and for more information on all the activities and attractions in the area, please visit www.discoveryorkshirecoast.com. Sports enthusiasts will find excellent local golf courses (Filey, Ganton, Scarborough, Flamborough, Bridlington, Driffield and Malton (Scarborough and Bridlington both host Golf Weeks). There is also scope for windsurfing, sailing, cycling and canoeing as well as great walking along the cliffs or in the surrounding countryside; both the Wolds Way and Cleveland Way end at Filey.

This traditional seaside resort can be found resting on the Yorkshire coast, offering a wonderful spot for walkers and wildlife watchers. This fishing town on the North East Coast has been enjoyed as a resort since the Victorian times and has a bay, a sandy beach and Filey Brigg and its shallow rockpools to the North. Within the town you will also find a superb selection of shops, pubs and eateries.

The owners provided tea/coffee milk and biscuits, which was a lovely touch. The cottage was clean and very well equipped. The walk down to the beach was easy (a little harder coming back up!) and the beach itself was wonderful! Easy access to the country park and cliffs too.

Everything we needed was supplied, it was comfortable and warm. Excellent location, 5 minutes to the beach, town and supermarket.

  • Amanda

Central location town and beach a few minutes walk. Cottage had everything you need and owner left milk tea and biscuits which was lovely on arrival. Parking you park on nearby streets which in November was not a problem.
