Make your way through the stable door, where you will discover an open-plan living area, divided between a quirky kitchen and a comfy double bed. Whether you are just starting your day, or settling down after a sightseeing adventure, this homely retreat is delightfully equipped. With a woodburning stove tucked into the layout, this shepherd's hut is your own little haven on those cooler nights, making Shepherd's Hut an excellent choice, winter or summer. There is a pull-out table and chairs for breakfast in the early hours, or dinner after the sun sets. The solid wood finish continues over to a classic shower room, completing the interior in a charming fashion. Make the most of the peaceful surroundings which rest beyond, heart-warming countryside is just waiting to be admired from the patio area. Alternatively, why not enjoy some alfresco dining by lighting up the barbecue, spending some quality time away from it all. Helmsley boasts its own 12th century castle and English Heritage’s Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard lies close by. Shepherd's hut is at the Center of a network of foot paths and bridalways. Helmsley also features an arts centre showing films and plays, and an outdoor swimming pool, which is open during the summer. There is excellent walking on the doorstep - indeed the Cleveland Way, starting in Helmsley - and the North York Moors with their hidden dales and villages are pretty in all seasons. York is less than an hour's drive south, as is Scarborough, Whitby and the east coast. A cosy escape for two.
