Hillcrest is a lovely, spacious Edwardian house situated in a peaceful location in the heart of the market town of Pickering. This traditional property has been sympathetically modernised and provides a good standard of accommodation for couples and families looking to explore this beautiful area. The log burning stove gives it a cosy welcoming feel. It is a perfect base for walkers with a number of countryside walks close by.

    Had a fantastic week at Hillcrest. Absolutely brilliant place for a holiday if you like walking on the moors, riding bikes in Dalby Forest, eating fish n chips at Whitby. The cottage itself is very well appointed and amazing value for money. Would recommend and would come again thank you.

    The house itself is clean, spacious and in a good location however the street is very busy and cars start passing by early in the morning. After our first night, I woke up to noise downstairs, I thought someone was in the house however it turned out to be the neighbours, they became my alarm clock for the rest of the week.The kitchen is very well stocked but I was really disgusted by the state of the kettle, it was full of limescale and I couldn't bring myself to use it, I had my JetBoil with me in the car so I brought that in and used it all week to boil water. The fridge froze our fresh food items which of course all went soggy when defrosted so I had to throw out all of our salad items, even the coleslaw froze! Fridge was set to 5 degrees so not sure what the issue was.Gaining access to the key to get in was very straightforward, the instructions were very clear, the RangeMaster was a pleasure to cook on and the deep bath was very nice!

    Property is a very large 3 bedroom terraced house- the owners have worked on every room to bring them up to a high standard. Used back bedroom, bed is large very comfortable -shower is excellent with plenty of pressure. I could not master the controls for central heating no clear instructions left- boiler has controls and there is a B.Gas thermostat at top of stairs , No radiator in kitchen and it was only on the last day I noticed 2 heater grills at skirting board level in the kitchen with fan heaters behind. Definite lack of forks and knives. Single line parking outside, so unloaded car and parked car about 200 yards away- house is within 2 minutes of NYMR steam railway and main shopping centre .Would I stay here again I probably would- location is good and price was right.
