About Glaisdale at Hungate Cottages

Glaisdale Cottage on the outskirts of Pickering is 1 of 11 properties at Hungate Cottages, set within mature gardens and with a fenced play area onsite.  Pickering town centre and the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway are a short walk away, and free entry to Pickering indoor swimming pool (a 3 minute walk away) plus a free pass to nearby Dalby Forest are included in your stay.  Guests booking one week or more also receive free entry to the Eden Camp Museum and the Ryedale Folk Museum.  

Living Space

Beautifully furnished throughout, Glaisdale is a sunny, bright cottage overlooking the bottom courtyard in one direction and our orchard on the other side.  Living areas include:-

Downstairs entrance hall, a spacious sitting room with a stone open fireplace and an archway into a fully fitted pine kitchen/dining room. 

A cloakroom with a wc is also downstairs.

The sitting room includes comfortable sofa and armchair seating, a new HD Smart TV with Freeview, a DVD, CD/cassette, a DAB radio with an iPod dock, books and games and an open fire with free logs provided.

Fully fitted pine kitchen with a dishwasher, a fridge/freezer, tea towels, a cafetiere and all essential accessories.  Cooking is with electricity

A utility room contains a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

Bedrooms / Bathrooms

Upstairs bedrooms - a double bedroom with views across to the orchard.

Twin bedroom with a wash basin and views across to the courtyard and orchard.

Cosy single bedroom.

Bathroom containing a bath with a shower over and a wc.

Outside

Beautiful mature gardens surround cottages and ample off road parking is onsite.  A fully fenced play area features a Wendy house, swings, slides and a climbing frame.  A secure cycle shed for bike storage is also available.

Fishing is by prior arrangement.

Gas central heating throughout - free logs provided for the open fire.

Around and About

Pickering's historic market town centre with a choice of shops, weekly markets, restaurants and cafes is just a few minutes' walk away.  The town also has a fascinating castle and the family friendly Beck Isle Museum with themed rooms and family activities. 

Hop aboard the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering which runs through the heart of the National Park to Whitby on the coast.  Walking, cycling and treetop adventure in Dalby Forest (free entry pass included) is only a short distance away. 

Attractions and activities within easy reach include Rosedale Abbey golf course, Castle Howard, Flamingo Land Theme Park and Cropton Brewery.  Free entry to the Eden Camp Museum and the Ryedale Folk Museum is also included with weekly bookings!

Directions

Pickering sits on the A170 intersection with the A169.  From the South, continue on the M1 to Junction 32, then onto the M18 and A1(M) north.  Move on to the A65 and carry on past York heading towards Scarborough.  When you reach Malton take the A169 to Pickering.

Travelling from the North, head towards Thirsk and at Thirsk take the A170 Eastbound heading towards Scarborough.  Pickering is just after Helmsley on the junction with the A169.

Visitors coming from Lancashire and West Yorkshire take the M62 Eastbound, then onto the M1 Northbound to Junction 44, and onto the A64 towards Scarborough.  On arrival at Malton take the A169 to Pickering. 

The cottages are located on the right hand side of Recreation Road just opposite the cricket field.  Take a right under the arch past Keepersgate, then drive up into the main car park.
