About this property

A perfect bolthole for a small family nestled in the village of Pickering, this delightful cottage offers cosy accommodation and a fantastic base from which to explore the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

Found resting in the centre of the historic market town of Pickering, the cottage is just a short stroll from the town's wonderful amenities including a variety of restaurants, pubs and convenience stores. For an action packed day, Dalby Forest (13 miles) is the perfect place for a pedal, whether you are looking for a leisurely ride or something more challenging. The North York Moors Steam Railway is a must see, taking you all the way to the coastal town of Whitby (22 miles) whilst passing some of the most scenic landscapes. Whitby offers a traditional seaside experience, home to a beautiful beach, historic wonders such as the Whitby Museum and the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, and the famed 199 steps leading to the imposing Whitby Abbey. Step inside this cosy cottage and into a welcoming open plan lounge/dining area that opens to the spacious kitchen. Hang your coat and make yourself at home in the lounge which offers a relaxing place to retreat after a long day exploring. Warmed by the heat of the wood burner (first basket of logs provided), put your feet up and watch a film on the TV. The kitchen provides everything you need to rustle up a homecooked meal, with a gas hob, electric oven, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. Take your meal over to the table and plan your next day out! The bathroom is located at the back of the cottage and has a wonderful corner bath with an electric shower and WC. There is a handy utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, and it also provides a useful space if you have wet coats and boots. Upstairs are two bedrooms, a double and a single, with space for storing your belongings. Head outside and up the garden path to your pretty cottage garden with well stocked borders. Sit on the decked terrace with your morning coffee and read a book. The summerhouse is a great place to finish your evenings, adorned with comfortable furniture and a coffee machine. There is a private parking space behind the garden and roadside parking either at the front or the back of the property, subject to availability.
