Set on a beautiful, 60-acre estate among other high-quality cottages, lodges and glamping getaways, it’s just 1 mile from both the market town of Pickering and the charming village of Thornton-le-Dale, each of which is home to an array of shops and places to eat. For walking, mountain biking or outdoor adventure activities, head to Dalby Forest, 4.5 miles, or into the moors, where you’ll find a fabulous variety of trails, footpaths and cycling routes through all kinds of scenery. From the 1930s-themed station at Pickering, you can hop on a heritage train and chuff to Whitby (21 miles) for a day at the seaside. Alternatively, the grand stately home of Castle Howard is just 14 miles away.

The circular style of this quirky pod is full of fun, but it has also been carefully designed with lots of clever, space-saving ideas. The living space is open plan, with a sofa for two facing a Smart TV. The kitchen area includes a two-ring gas hob, fridge and microwave, plus worktop and storage space – everything you need, in fact, to whip up tasty snacks and quick meals. Pull down the table that’s cleverly built into the wall, unstack the stools, and you have a sweet dining area that can tuck away again easily. When it’s time to get a good night’s sleep, the double bed – with a luxury Hypnos pocket-sprung mattress – is tucked into the far corner, a cosy spot with a porthole window above and a niche beside it for your bits and pieces. There’s even a proper hanging wardrobe. The wet-room-style shower room (with hot and cold water and a flushing WC) is concealed behind a mirrored door, with Cole & Lewis toiletries provided.

Wake up to pretty views and step out onto your private decked area, where you’ll find a charcoal BBQ and outdoor seating ready and waiting for you to sip a morning coffee or grill some local delicacies. You’ll have parking for one car in a centralised parking area close to your pod, and for loading and unloading, you can park immediately outside.
