Situated on a quiet street in the historic market town of Kirkbymoorside, 18 Castegate is a lovingly restored mid terraced period house. A market centre for over 750 years and mentioned in the Domesday Book, Kirkbymoorside is well served with local produce markets, specialist independent shops and traditional inns.

Nestled on the southern end of the North York Moors National Park, Kirkbymoorside is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is an ideal base for exploring the many walks, market towns, pretty villages and historic buildings the area has to offer. Close at hand are the abbeys of Rievauix and Byland and the National Trust properties of Nunnington Hall and Rievauix Terraces and Temples. The charming market town of Helmsley is just six miles away, winner of the "best Market Town High St 2015" with a wealth of unique shops, galleries, charming tea rooms and restaurants. In addition you can explore the dramatic ruins of Helmsley Castle and visit the 5 acre walled garden nestled at the foot of the castle which was built in 1759 to provide produce for the nearby Duncombe Park. The bustling market town of Pickering is just 7 miles away, with its castle, museum, varied shops and eateries and the North Yorkshire Moors Steam railway, where you can enjoy a ride on a magnificent steam train through the breath-taking scenery. Within easy reach are Whitby, the East Coast and the historic city of York.

Visit the local market town of Pickering (7 miles away) and visit the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Pickering Castle or even take a tour of the local Cropton Brewery.

Enjoy a trip to Nunnington Hall, a beautiful Yorkshire Manor House belonging to the National Trust, or another of it's properties - Rievaulx Terraces, one of Yorkshire's finest 18th Century landscape gardens, containing two temples.

Visit the charming town of Helmsley, winner of the "Best Market Town High St 2015", with a wealth of unique shops, galleries, charming tea rooms and restaurants. In addition you can explore the dramatic ruins of Helmsley Castle.

For a great family day out, visit Flamingo Land or Go Ape in nearby Dalby.

There are an abundance of museums in the area, ranging from Eden Camp where you can experience the sounds,sights and smells of wwii to Beck Isle Museum which is all about Pickering and has an outdoor farm courtyard and riverside picnic area.

Hidden gems include Castle Howard where you can have fun exploring 1,000 acres of parkland and gardens; jump on the land train to the Great Lake for boat trips and enjoy the adventure playground.

For keen walkers, there are plenty of opportunities to discover the local area and take in the great scenery. Visit Cleveland Way National Trail with heather moorland and dramatic coastline to discover with fabulous views, ancient stone crosses, castles and fising villages tucked into tiny coves. Trail runs between Helmsley and Filey.

Within a short driving distance, discover Yorkshire Lavender set in a spectacular hillside farm of nearly 60 acres, within the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with attractions such as a lavender maze, hillside snakes and ladders and a deer park.
