Sitting in the centre of Richmond, Yorkshire is this delightful, end terrace cottage of Jaipur House. The ideal retreat for a family or group of four, Jaipur House rests a short distance from the Yorkshire Dales National Park, whilst also enjoying access to several welcoming towns and villages. Upon entering the property, you will be pleased to find an open-plan living space that enjoys high-end furnishings and stylish décor throughout; grab a seat in front of the Smart TV and watch your favourite show, as the flames of the woodburning stove warm your toes. After pausing for a moment of relaxation, progress to the kitchen, a compact space that houses a good selection of appliances and utensils that the designated chef will be happy with, including a fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. The dining table can be found nearby and is a fabulous socialising spot, where you can settle down for a delicious meal with your loved ones and discuss the day's events. After dinner, unwind further in the nearby cinema room, where a plush sofa awaits in front of a large flatscreen, Smart TV. When you're feeling weary, ascend the stairs to find two well-decorated bedrooms; one king-size and one double, both feature Smart TVs, for extra entertainment, and share a fantastically finished bathroom, with a bath for you to savour a tranquil soak in. In the morning, embark on a very short walk to the town centre, where a large selection of shops and eateries await, including the renowned Rustique restaurant, where you can tuck into mouth-watering, French cuisine. Richmond, the old market town at the gateway to Swaledale, sits on a conspicuous hilltop position to the north of the River Swale. Its cobblestone streets and small alleyways, or wynds, are home to almost nine centuries of bustling history and distinct personality. There are magnificent walks to be had, such as the Castle Walk, which is a spectacular terrace stroll beneath the castle walls, or a walk along the River Swale.

There are a few things which could be improved. The main thing for me was a persistent unpleasant smell, which seemed to be worst in the cinema room, but I couldn't pin point it. We didn't find any instructions for anything; it would be especially useful to have instructions for each TV as they all rely on internet access (no aerial/Freeview) and they all worked differently, i.e. which button(s) to press to get the required apps active. Eventually we worked them out but it was confusing and some non-technically minded people could struggle with them. The heating wasn't on when we arrived as the thermostat was placed close to an electric radiator (it was warm in that area but nowhere else). Other things are general wear & tear - the bin doesn't close, hallway radiator valve is broken, some bedroom drawer handles broken, washing machine is very noisy - like an aircraft! (And again no instructions.)

Please be aware there is no outside space. The living room has a two seater sofa and the âcinemaâ room a second two seater sofa which makes it unsuitable for a group of four to sit together. Whilst there are a total of four televisions in the property it should be noted that there is no terrestrial TV which we found disappointing. It is usual to find a file with instructions for appliances etc. and information about the area but there was nothing in this property. Some information was sent via Whatâs App. Whilst there are two double bedrooms, the second one was very tight for space around the bed itself. Bathroom is very well appointed with great shower. Kitchen was good - well equipped with everything you would need. We enjoyed our stay in Richmond but wouldnât return to this property.
