A two bedroomed cottage located on the most beautiful street in Richmond, with its cobbled market place, castle and the only remaining working Georgian Theatre in the UK.
The Old Sweet Shop is positioned on Frenchgate which is one of the most popular roads in Richmond, North Yorkshire. The cottage was the birth place of John Fenwick who was the founder of Fenwick’s department stores. It later became the sweet shop for the local area, hence retaining the name. This well-equipped cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms and is ideally located within walking distance of the pubs, shops, museums, castle and Georgian Theatre. This property would make an ideal base for exploring the local area and the Yorkshire Dales.

The Old Sweetshop was a comfortable and homely cottage and the location was very good not far to all attractions The food at the Kings Head Hotel was really good but due to covid restrictions it is better to book We had a very enjoyable few days away

A delightful cottage with every comfort that you could wish for. Also in my favourite street in richmond close to town and all local walks. WE also enjoyed trips up the dale and walks by the old lead mines. I recommend this cottage and hope to stay again soon

We've enjoyed another week in Richmond. Highlights were a day out on the Wensleydale Railway from Leyburn to Redmire and walking to gilling West for lovely food at The White Swan.
