Starfall has an enviable elevated position overlooking the Upper Falls at Aysgarth. Located in the former mill building by the River Ure at one of the National Park’s most renowned beauty spots. The property has been restored by its new owners to provide comfortable accommodation for two people. Enjoying a stylish interior, open plan living space with newly fitted shaker style kitchen, the bedroom has a super kingsize bed which can be set as a twin on request, and the bathroom has a walk-in shower. Stunning views of both the Falls and the River Ure can be enjoyed from it’s windows. The apartment is accessed by stone steps and internal stairs to the first floor, so not suitable for anyone with limited mobility. Offering a unique experience, this first floor apartment is a joint venture with its neighbouring Yore Mill Craft Shop and Gallery opened by the owners in July 2021. Large windows look out over the Upper Falls and it is unlikely that there are many finer views out of a gallery window in Yorkshire or beyond. The Gallery showcases the talents of local artists and makers and inspirational courses take place regularly and will be available on request to guests. The apartment takes its name from the dark skies and beautiful star gazing opportunities the location offers. Guided tours and equipment will be available on request at the Gallery. Nearby, Freeholders’ Wood Local Nature Reserve, an ancient semi-natural woodland, hosts the Planet Trail in October as part of the Yorkshire Dales Dark Skies Fringe Festival and again for the dark Skies Festival in February through to March. Heading out and about to explore, Starfall is perfectly situated to visit the superb waterfalls with other many walks in the area taking in the surrounding woods or heading up to the picturesque villages of Carperby or Aysgarth. There are two pubs nearby, both serving excellent food and local beers. The wonderfully stocked delicatessen in nearby Leyburn and the creamery at Wensleydale are a food lover’s dream, as are many of the pubs in and around Wensleydale all serving wonderful local produce. The location means the property is central to all of the attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the market town of Bedale, Hawes and the famous Hardraw Force, and the Wensleydale community run steam train. Nearby historic Bolton Castle, where Mary Queen of Scots was held for a time, offers an interesting day out and a visit to Middleham for it’s race horses, antique shops, galleries and tea room.

Return stay was just as good as the first and Brucie our collie didn’t want to go home 😊

What a find. Small apartment in a wonderful location overlooking Upper Falls with access to plenty of local walks. The walk to Carperby for Sunday lunch across fields was pleasant and food home cooked. Highly recommended

Beautiful small cottage looking out over the top falls at AyrsgarthKitchen/living room is small but adequate but did struggle for workspace (sink too big). Alas no dishwasher but water is hot so not a problem. Shower works good and bed is big and comfortable. We were there on a very hot day close to 30 degrees and flat remained cool and comfortable. Locally there is a wee cafe more or less downstairs and a gallery/craft shop also part of the same building. You'll find Steve and Julie (the flat owners there) and they are very nice and welcoming. A nice walk up the steps through the churchyard cuts out the corner towards the Aysgarth Hotel where food and hospitality is also good. There is a fuel station half a mile away in the village with a welcoming shop. The main attraction is the falls and they are certainly worth the visit
