This characterful cottage has been lovingly furnished to provide a stylish holiday home, ideal for couples and small families to enjoy a well-deserved break in this historic area. Full of character throughout, the accommodation is a real delight with many original features enhanced by the contemporary furnishings. The adjoining kitchen is both stylish and well-equipped and includes a small storage area, ideal for all the hiking gear. The kitchen leads upstairs to a spacious main bedroom with king-size bed and a separate dressing room. The second bedroom boasts a lovely outlook over the rear garden, it has a single day bed (available on request) and also doubles up as a quiet reading room. The bathroom offers a heated floor, and holds a bath, ideal for a long relaxing soak and a separate shower. From the kitchen the rear door leads out to a double terrace garden, an ideal spot for dining alfresco, enjoying a good book and soaking in the peace and tranquility of this quiet corner of Middleham. A premier holiday cottage, ideal for a romantic break in this ever-popular historic old town. The amenities of Middleham are just a very short walk down the lane and the town square boasts an array of old traditional pubs, fine eateries and old curiosity shops. Sit back, enjoy a pint of local beer and watch the racehorses walk their way back to the many famous stables scattered throughout the town. The castle dates back to the 12th century and wonderful walking can be enjoyed right across the area. Market towns such as Richmond, Leyburn, Masham, famous for the Theakston's and Black Sheep breweries, and Hawes, the home of Wensleydale cheese, are within easy reach.

Renowned for its history and race horses, the attractive Wensleydale town of Middleham is dominated by its Norman castle, dating from 1190. This impressive structure boasts a castle keep, second in size only to the Tower of London. The town's market square has been cobbled and is home to a wide range of shops, pubs and places to eat, though for more choice, the bustling town of Leyburn is just a short drive away. The Forbidden Corner, a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers and surprises is also close by and is located in four acres of grounds. With Wensleydale, York, the North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales and Heritage Coast all within easy driving distance, visitors to this lovely town will be spoiled for choice.

It was going to be difficult to travel with it in an already full car so having to separate it on the market square into each compartment wasn't very nice, especially with some of the stares we were getting but otherwise a very nice and comfortable cottage.

We love this cottage, tucked away in a quiet location off the Main Street but so close to the village pubs, shop and fish and chip shop! The cottage is very clean and so well equipped ; everything has been carefully thought about to make it a very special place to stay . We love the location and being able to walk from the village on numerous walks along the river Cover in all directions without having to drive is extra special. The village of Leyburn is a few miles across the river Ure which has more amenities. Middleham is an interesting village for historians due to its castle and it is wonderful to see the race horses going through the village every morning on the way to the gallops. We would definitely love to return again to Middle Cottage.
