Guests that stayed at this property said

Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. Some guests found the property well-presented with a welcoming hamper, while others noted issues with housekeeping and cleanliness that affected their stay.

The location is generally well-regarded for its accessibility and parking, with plenty to do nearby. However, some guests found the road noise to be intrusive, which slightly impacted the overall experience.

The majority of guests found the beds comfortable and the property warm and cosy. However, one review mentioned a lack of privacy in an en suite and impractical features in a bedroom, which suggests room for improvement.

Facilities are praised for being well-equipped, especially the kitchen. However, there are comments about maintenance issues such as drainage and insufficient outdoor seating. The TVs not meeting expectations also detracted from the experience.

Guests were delighted by thoughtful touches like a welcome hamper. It's important to note that such gestures are appreciated but not guaranteed for every stay.

One of the top tourist destinations in the Yorkshire Dales National Park is the well-liked market town of Hawes, which is located in North Yorkshire's Richmondshire region. The town, which is situated between Buttertubs and Fleet Moss, is a great starting point for exploring Wensleydale as well as the neighbouring dales of Swaledale, Cotterdale, Dentdale, Garsdale, Wharfedale, and Chapel-le-Dale. Enjoy a stroll around the adjacent Hawes Town Path, Millennium Walk, Pennine Way, or River Ure. The English Tourism Board Silver Award for the "Best Day Excursion Out" was given to Hawes in 1998. Coaches and horse-drawn waggons have long since been replaced by modern transportation, but market day (Tuesday) in Hawes remains bustling as ever thanks to a farmers' auction that draws sheep farmers from all across the north of England. Local stores, cafés, and inns now serve both the local populace and a range of Dales tourists. Visitors may now visit the renowned Wensleydale Creamery, which gained fame from the animated Wallace and Grommit movies, to watch how the famous cheese is created and experience the finished product in a warm café. The bustling National Park Center and Dales Countryside Museum are located in the former railway yard. The two renowned Dales historians and authors, Marie Hartley and Joan Ingilby, have amassed a remarkable collection of Dales artefacts, which are kept at the museum.

The two shower/ bathrooms should have blinds. The double bedroom with 'en suite should be enclosed. Great situation. We walked along the river to Askrigg. The Wensleydale creamery in Hawes was very interesting on the one rainy day! Many thanks and would love to return in the future.

On arrival we found the dishwasher to be full of the previous occupants' dishes, the grill pan and rack covered in grease and food crumbs and the freezer compartment in the small fridge in the kitchen jammed up with a bag of ice cubes that had morphed into one solid iceberg. There were also a couple of drinks mats on the floor of the siting room presumably where the previous occupants had left them, and here was a recycling box full of bottles on the pavement outside the back gate (it was still there when we left). It obviously made us question the standard of housekeeping and cleaning. The property itself did not live up to the description and the photographs online. The so-called snug, which is anything but, has one long settee that could sit four people sitting up straight but if there were more than four guests staying then the only other furniture in that room is a couple of hard wooden chairs. The room is dark, austere and cold, not helped by the radiator cabinet which absorbs most of the heat. The tv in the room is not a smart tv and just has Freeview channels available through an aerial, so guests cannot watch Netflix or other streaming or catch up services in that room. The sitting room is better and is actually comfortable, warm and cosy but is again let down by the television. This one does not have any terrestrial channels at all as it is not connected to an aerial but is not a proper smart tv either. It is somehow connect to the wifi but only has Netflix, Prime and BBC iPlayer Apps available. It was impossible to connect the tv to the internet or to download any other Apps, so you cannot access ITVx, Channel 4, Channel 5 or another streaming services. It all seems very odd given the money that has obviously been spent elsewhere in the property that there are not two proper smart tvs in the house. The ensuite bedroom is exactly that, en suite - the toilet, shower and basin ae right in the room with you, no door, screen or even a curtain to separate you, so we chose to stay in the "gothic" room. While the bed was comfortable the room has an incongruous free-standing bath between the bed and the window, which makes the room very cramped an awkward to move around, with no room for a wardrobe, and the bath seems totally impractical given the age of the wooden flooring and the gaps between the floorboards. The main bathroom is very nicely equipped but the window, which is not frosted or opaque and has no curtain or blind, looks directly onto the house across the road, which means the the neighbours can see anyone in the shower until the window steams up! The external areas are very small and while enclosed, dog owners should be aware that it is not secure, with plenty of escape routes. All in all we were very disappointed in it and would not stay again.

Warm, comfortable, spacious, comfy beds, great decor and a very well equipped kitchen. Lots of walks from the house and lots to do nearby. Some reviewers have mentioned the traffic noise, but we didn't find this intrusive. We would love to return. If you are thinking of getting the extended family together - this is a wonderful place to do it. Already recommended it to friends.
