About this property

Redmire 0.25 miles. This enchanting, detached, stone bothy is nestled at the end of a rural green lane at the foot of the River Ure in Redmire. With footpaths running past the cottage and glorious views over Wensleydale, this charming property makes the perfect retreat for those wanting to walk and tour the Dales. This quaint and unique Redmire cottage is full of character, with beamed ceilings, Suffolk latch doors and a bespoke spiral staircase leading up to the pretty double bedroom. With a cosy sitting room and a farmhouse-style country kitchen, this Redmire cottage provides lovely accommodation in a tranquil setting. From the kitchen, French doors open to the garden which overlooks the river valley. Finished to a high standard, the cottage provides the perfect place to relax and unwind. Nearby you can find a welcoming pub, The Wheatsheaf Inn, where you can enjoy a pint and some grub, whilst walkers are spoilt for choice with the numerous footpaths and trails to follow. The historic market town of Leyburn lies four miles away, with its bustling market square and excellent amenities. For train enthusiasts, the Wensleydale steam railway is close by, whilst the imposing Bolton Castle is a short walk away. Be sure to visit the Creamery in Hawes and choose from a wide selection of cheeses. With a wide variety of pretty market towns and spectacular scenery to explore, this Redmire cottage is perfectly placed for a memorable holiday.

Situated close to Castle Bolton, Leyburn and the famous Aysgarth Falls is the picturesque Dales village of Redmire. Located along the Wensleydale Railway, which runs various steam trains during the summer, the settlement is also within easy reach of Castle Bolton, one of the best preserved medieval castles in Yorkshire and dating back to 1378. Much of the construction, composed of towers set around a rectangular courtyard, survived orders to destroy the famous castles of Yorkshire issued by Parliament during the Civil War. Carperby is close by too, and was an important centre for the Quaker movement and the largest building today is the classically styled Friends Meeting House, which overlooks the market cross and village green. Redmire itself is home to a traditional pub, which serves good food whilst there is an excellent range of amenities, shops and attractions in the nearby market town of Leyburn.

Our stay here was as good as the best ones ones I have stayed at. When you leave feedback it is alway important to be honest & my honest review was I loved the cottage, the area & the comfort. It took a little bit to get warm & only thing I would have loved is a log or coal fire but this was not a deal breaker. We will 100% be back & the robin on the bench every morning at breakfast made me smile.
