No smoking.. Dale View is the slightly smaller neighbour to Watersedge (UK30278) in Gayle near the bustling market town of Hawes in Wensleydale. Affording a splendid, elevated position next to the lower waterfalls flowing down into Gayle Beck.
From the living room or outside terrace, you have an uninterrupted view of the water as it flows past. Offering a very good level of comfort, this mid-terraced property has been tastefully furnished and well-equipped to cater for up to four people. The living/dining area has a wood burner and Smart TV, perfect to return to after a day of exploring. The compact kitchen has all the appliances you need and well-equipped to cater for a hearty breakfast or supper. Upstairs are two bedrooms furnished to a good standard with oak furniture, with kingsize bed and one single. The bathroom with bath and shower over and separate toilet completes the accommodation. Externally is a patio area with furniture to enjoy a beautiful view of the falls.
Being close to the Pennine Way there is excellent walking direct from the door suitable for all abilities. A 10-minute walk away is the bustling market town of Hawes, here you will find a wealth of shops, pubs and restaurants offering a wide variety of choices to suit every taste. En-route is the famous Wensleydale Creamery just a short walk from Dale View and the visitors centre and coffee shop a must visit! Aysgarth Falls, The Forbidden Corner and Bolton Castle are on the list of things to do. Lake Semerwater is nearby and offers activities such as coarse and wild brown trout fishing, canoeing, sailing and windsurfing or simply a lovely place to take a picnic on a summers day and sit and enjoy the views and wildlife. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

This was our 3rd consecutive stay in Dale View following 4 stays in Watersedge, the sister cottage next door. Our review is pretty similar to last year in that the cottage is well situated with off road parking for a medium sized car, and the bedrooms in particular are delightful. What's not so good is the patio, which has been commented on previously by me and other guests, in that it still remains unappealing. The recent cutting of the lower branches on the river bank has helped, but the patio needs a make-over and would be better if cushions or covers for the outdoor furniture was available. On this holiday the weather was not brilliant and so we had no need for the outside space, but if we'd holiday'd in the high season at a considerably higher price, we'd have been very disappointed with the patio.

We stayed at Watersedge next door a few years ago and decided to stay at Dale View this time. Th properties are very similar, Watersedge having the advantage of an extra toilet which me missed this time. The location is ideal being only a short walk into Hawes and there are pleasant walks to Hardraw and to Aysgill Force, all from the cottage.The view from the rear of the cottage overlooking the beck is beautiful, the downside being that the patio only gets the morning sun. A bench is needed for the front to enjoy the afternoon and evening sun.We had a lovely week weather wise and enjoyed another stay in Gayle.
